Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the arguments regarding the negative impact of unsatisfactory work on mental health and family life are relevant, the counter-argument regarding the risks of trying to change a workplace is slightly underdeveloped and relies on generalizations. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis could be improved by providing more nuanced examples or a more sophisticated exploration of the trade-offs involved in both approaches. The essay meets the requirements of the prompt but remains at a fairly basic level of argumentation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'To recapitulate' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of family life and the financial aspect. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with the use of pronouns like 'He' which lacks a clear antecedent in some contexts. Paragraphing is logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'vomit out the his feelings' and 'dautating task'. The student relies on common, everyday language and struggles with more sophisticated collocations. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation and usage limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on learning more precise academic vocabulary and common collocations related to employment and workplace dynamics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('higher authorities does not like'), missing articles ('at work', 'at workplace'), and awkward sentence construction ('If citizens have are not getting job'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with lowercase letters after a period or containing unnecessary commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is needed.
