Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few decades ago, the people who are at bad situations would have the solutions to solve it instead of accepting that bad situations. Now some people believe that it is best to accept the situations like unsatisfactory job or shortage of money, whereas others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.

The people who are satisfied with their bad situations and accepting that are most probably the one who don't want to be stuck and gets demotivated through those situations. They think that accepting and moving forward is the best solution to those situations. For example, while doing a job which doesn't gives us satisfaction but instead, we are doing that due to fulfilling our family needs and also, we don't have chance to switch a job at this moment.so those peoples accept these bad situations who don't have any other option.

On the other hand, the people who think that instead of accepting these bad situations, we should try to improve such situation. from there perspective they are also correct because in our life we can't be able to accept every bad situation. we should always seek for the improvement of such situations and bring the solutions for it. This will help and encourages you to fight with such situations in the future moreover you will also become the role model for upcoming generations.

In My opinion, I believe that instead of just accepting the bad situations we should try to improve them according to our satisfaction. For instant if you are facing with shortage of money, you can't be just idle simply accepting that, you have to overcome from that situation which will be remembered for your life long. what we are doing is not important but where we feel happy and freedom is important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation for why some people accept bad situations is a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on the lack of options rather than the psychological or practical benefits of acceptance. Similarly, the argument for improving situations is somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples or deeper analysis of the implications of each approach. The conclusion is clear, but it could be more effectively linked to the main body arguments to provide a more cohesive summary of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward. For example, 'from there perspective' (should be 'their') and 'For instant' (should be 'For instance') are used as transition markers but are grammatically incorrect. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where 'those peoples' is used without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to the intended nouns will help improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'bad situations' and 'good/correct' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'overcome from that situation' (should be 'overcome that situation') and 'remembered for your life long' (should be 'remembered for a lifetime'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to career development, financial management, and personal resilience, and ensure you use words in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('a job which doesn't gives us'), article usage ('the people who are at bad situations'), and incorrect verb forms ('we can't be able to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent nature of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
