Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is widely believed by some people to accept life situations as they come without even making efforts to alter them, while others think we should strive to challenge these circumstances for improved career and better quality of life. Although accepting few things such as an unsatisfactory job is often necessary as we all ought to have certain income to afford a reasonable standard of living, however I strongly believe that we can always endeavour to have better future.
On the one hand, living in the same conditions for a considerable of time can make individuals habitual of it, whereas, consistent and even trivial efforts often lend individuals to new opportunities. Additionally few employees accept unsatisfied employment or even minimum wages since they often procrastinate or blame their fortune instead of working hard towards their goals. As a result, individuals with such attitude accept these circumstances as they have to survive and maintain a reasonable standard of living. For instance, certain employees may remains at the same level for many years instead of seeking out innovative opportunities elsewhere.
On the other hand, individuals who have positive and optimistic attitude towards life may remain hopeful for the future and constantly strive to achieve better with improved focus, attention and perseverance. Individuals can make conscious efforts to uplift their performance in workplace by engaging themselves in voluntary projects or seeking opportunities for new roles and projects. For instance, It is increasingly common to observe employees attaining senior roles by just initiating few simple tasks such as deliberately showing up in meetings with innovative ideas or volunteering projects with seniors. Therefore, I believe that with positive outlook and consistency individuals can alter their circumstances for better career.
In conclusion, if we accept to live in the same conditions for years we may become habitual of those circumstances. Nevertheless, we should endeavour to make things possible with small conscious efforts since tiny habits are incredibly powerful in transforming lives we never imagined.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout. Ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, although the development of the 'acceptance' side is slightly less nuanced than the 'improvement' side. The introduction sets the stage well, and the conclusion reinforces the main argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that the arguments for the opposing view are as thoroughly explored as your own, perhaps by providing a more concrete example of why someone might choose to accept a situation rather than just focusing on the necessity of income.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Additionally', and 'Therefore' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are minor issues with cohesion, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the introduction ('Although... however') and some repetitive sentence structures. The flow is generally smooth, but a more varied use of linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You demonstrate the ability to use topic-specific language like 'innovative opportunities', 'perseverance', and 'uplift their performance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'considerable of time' (should be 'considerable amount of time') and 'habitual of it' (should be 'accustomed to it'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations will improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'certain employees may remains' (subject-verb agreement) and 'initiating few simple tasks' (missing article). The sentence 'It is widely believed by some people to accept...' is also syntactically awkward. While you attempt complex structures, the accuracy is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with greater precision to avoid these recurring slips.
