Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many individuals think that it is best to accept a unwanted situation, like unsatisfactory occupation or scarcity of money, where as some argue that it is better to try and improve such situations instead of accepting. In my view, it is always one better to improve rather then accepting the situation. In this essay, I will discuss the both view and also give my opinion at last.

On one hand, individuals are accepting there awful situation, and saying there are no room for improvement. This might happen because they are hopeless due to their are unsuccessful. Furthermore, It also happen because they do not want to invest there time and effort on any thing. Additionally, this type of individuals thing, although the situation is very depressing, it is manageable.

On the other hand, some individuals argue that, people should try to improve the situation. Their main arguement is if the situation is already bad every person should try to improve, even if the effort will completely turn around the situation it will at least make it little better then previous. furthermore, if their effort success they will achieve the success they want and does not have to leave their life in that awful situation.

In my opinion, if we are in the worst situation, at least, we should try to get out of the situation. I believe accepting the worst situation is the worst choose because there is always room for some improvement. Even successful people should not accept there situation and try to grow even further.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the arguments regarding why people accept bad situations are repetitive and lack depth, relying on generalisations like 'they are hopeless'. The second body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of improvement but lacks specific examples or logical depth to fully support the position. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete illustrations or nuanced reasoning for why individuals might choose one path over the other, rather than simply stating that one is better than the other.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'In this essay, I will discuss the both view'. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used with more precision would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'awful situation' and 'improve the situation', which limits your lexical variety. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'unsatisfactory occupation' (instead of 'job' or 'career'), 'scarcity of money' (instead of 'financial hardship'), and 'worst choose' (instead of 'worst choice'). To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms to express your ideas more naturally and precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this type of individuals thing'), incorrect pronoun usage ('there' instead of 'their'), and article misuse. For instance, 'there are no room' should be 'there is no room'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for common errors like homophones (there/their) and verb forms would be highly beneficial.
