Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views, but the development of ideas is very limited and often repetitive. The arguments lack depth, and the position is somewhat confusingly stated in the introduction. For example, the essay mentions 'shortage of money' repeatedly without providing specific reasons or examples to support why one might accept or improve such a situation. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion does not clearly synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should focus on providing concrete examples and logical explanations for each viewpoint rather than repeating the same points in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step, but the internal flow of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as the repetitive use of 'In the situation' or 'In the job'. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences often lack logical links. Referencing is also unclear; for instance, the use of 'he' in the second paragraph is ambiguous as it does not clearly refer back to a specific subject. You need to use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'job', 'money', 'situation', and 'bad'. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or collocations appropriate for an academic essay. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'the income of the job shortage', which makes the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'financial constraints', 'career advancement', or 'professional development', and avoid repeating the same basic nouns and adjectives throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'some people that are argue'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'satisfied on the job'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which affects the readability of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy.
