IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
We are observe different situations in life. Like when we are doing a job then on an off unpredictable scenarios are experienced by us. If there is a bad situation at that moment some people are in the favor to accept such a worse situation in which there is an unsatisfactory job on less wages. On the other hand some are of the view to improve this kind of bad situation by doing efforts.
As the concept of employment is concerned in which the overall environment is not in the favor of the workers and the fruit to the efforts is also very small then the employees gonna be displeased with this. This problem arises due the the carelessness by the management which ultimately leads to the decrease in the quality of work.
But the employees are habitual of this type of working and routine so they not showing the courage to speak for their right and they accept this unfair treatment because they think that if they lose their job they will not get any other. This fear let them accept this situation forcefully.
The solution for this problem is to provide the open opportunities for everyone so the people must not be afraid of losing the job and must be given their right amount of salary. So they can work fearlessly with all soul and spirit.
On the other hand we can discuss that these people do not afraid they must have the courage to try better and to improve such situations. They can demand for their rights and prefer to do better and better day by day.
In my point of view the people should not accept the unfair situation they must take stand for themselves. In this way the situation of un-satisfaction will be turned to satisfaction.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding whether to accept a bad situation or try to improve it, and presents a clear personal opinion that individuals should take a stand. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on employment conditions relies on general statements rather than fully extended arguments, and the reasoning tends to circle back to the fear of job loss without introducing fresh perspectives or deeper analysis. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas are under-developed in places, pulling the score into the Band 5 category where the task is tackled only partially or with limited expansion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices. For example, the transition phrases such as 'On the other hand we can discuss that' feel unnatural and fail to establish clear logical links between sentences. Furthermore, pronouns are occasionally ambiguous, making it difficult to follow the thread of the argument. While paragraphing is attempted, the lack of smooth logical flow and inadequate cohesive control place this response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, utilizing restricted terms such as 'bad situation', 'job', and 'rights' multiple times throughout the text. There are also noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'on an off unpredictable scenarios', 'on less wages', and 'do not afraid', which cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited lexical range. Although the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, the frequency of inaccuracies and the lack of less common lexical items prevent the response from reaching Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical structure consists largely of simple and basic complex sentences, many of which contain frequent errors. Examples include 'We are observe different situations', 'employees gonna be displeased', 'due the the carelessness', and 'this fear let them accept'. These persistent grammatical and mechanical errors frequently cause strain for the reader and impede comprehension. Although there are occasional successful constructions, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures and basic grammatical mistakes aligns this writing with the Band 5 descriptor.
