Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are many phases in a person’s life contributing to the factor of either becoming successful and lead a simple compromising life. A positive attitude and mindset could lead towards a more positive life whereas there are some areas that could be improved by trying and becoming better. We are going to discuss them below.
When a person gets into a bad situation, his first instance is why it happened to him. However, there are some people who just accepts the situation and moves on with their life. It contributes to a positive mindset. If a person gets an unsatisfactory job so he should gather the necessary points which led this opportunity to come to him instead of accepting it. If he strives to get a good job so it leads to better opportunities and more financial stability. Financial stability is a crucial aspect of a persons life especially in this economy and increasing poverty. If you try to make things better for your life, it improves your family life as well. It leads you to become more successful and more influential depending how hard you are willing to work on those areas.
On the other hand, if a person accepts a bad situation and just goes on with his life so that would just turn him into a person who is willing to accept anything that comes his way. Arguably, it builds a strong mindset but it also turns you into a less motivated individual who accepts anything. It would make you more comfortable in your own skin without doing anything extraordinary. However, i believe it vary from individuals as some people like to work extremely hard for everything whereas some people just cannot and it doesn’t change the fact that they are also humans. I believe trying is a necessary aspect and everyone should consider that.
To conclude the essay, i believe everyone should work on such situations and try to improve that so it would lead to a more positive and constructive life rather than just accepting things as they are.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views required by the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion, concluding that striving to improve bad situations is generally better. The main ideas are mostly relevant, such as discussing financial stability and personal mindset. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph where the explanation of accepting a job is tangled with striving for improvement. Phrases like 'We are going to discuss them below' are a bit informal and mechanical for an academic essay. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are addressed with a consistent position maintained throughout, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and repetitive. For instance, the transition 'On the other hand' in the third paragraph introduces the alternative view, but the cohesive devices used throughout are fairly basic and sometimes mechanical, such as repeated use of 'If a person' and 'It leads to'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in 'try to improve that so it would lead', where the pronoun antecedent is imprecise. Overall progression is visible, but the mechanical nature of the cohesive ties limits the score to Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating key concepts regarding financial stability, mindset, and career progression. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'financial stability', 'influential', and 'extraordinary'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'contributing to the factor of either becoming successful and lead a simple', 'his first instance is why it happened', and 'i believe it vary from individuals'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lexical limitations and inaccuracies place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some command over conditional structures like 'If a person gets an unsatisfactory job so he should...'. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('i believe it vary from individuals', 'a persons life'), incorrect punctuation and capitalization ('i believe'), and awkward phrasing like 'becoming successful and lead' (failing parallel structure). While these errors do not severely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching Band 7, making Band 6 an accurate reflection of the writer's grammatical accuracy and range.
