Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that it is better to accept a bad situation, while others think that people should try to improve their situations. This essay will discuss both views and i believe that people should try to improve their situataion whenever possible.
On one hand, accepting a difficult situation is sometimes a better choice. Some probems are personal which is not control by itself. Like sometimes you lose their job because of economic crisis, finding another job may take time. In this situation accepting the temporary difficulty and remainng patient can help the person to stay calm. Similarly people may have financial problems that cannot solve immediately so accepting their current situation can help them to manage there lives and stay peacefully.
On the other hand it is good to try and improve such situations can lead to better opportunities, better lifestyle in future. If people simply accept their problem so they may never acheive their goals. For example if you do not have good job so improve your skills, try to study hard and then apply for better jobs. Someone facing financial difficulties so they stop use there money to buy unecessary things and try to save their money in difficult times. They must invest their money which can lead to better lifestyle in future.
In my opinion people should not simply accept their difficult times when they have ability to change it. However they should understand that every problem take time to solve.
In conclusion, although accepting a bad situation can sometimes reduce stress, I believe people should try to improve their circumstances whenver possible. They should accept what they cannot change and take practical steps to make their situation better.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether to accept or improve difficult situations and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as losing a job due to an economic crisis or cutting unnecessary expenses. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from minor generalisations. For instance, the argument that accepting a bad situation helps one stay calm is introduced but not deeply explored before pivoting to the counter-argument. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.5 as it covers all parts of the task well, presenting a clear position and supporting arguments, though some development is slightly brief.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is organised logically into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, a balancing opinion paragraph, and a conclusion, clearly showing an overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as On one hand and On the other hand, though some transitions are occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, as seen in On the other hand it is good to try and improve such situations can lead to. Referencing is mostly clear, though pronouns occasionally lack precision (e.g., problems are personal which is not control by itself). Paragraphing and logical flow are strong enough for a Band 6.0, bordering on 6.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as economic crisis, temporary difficulty, and financial difficulties. However, there are notable word choice errors, missing articles, and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as remainng patient instead of remaining patient, manage there lives instead of manage their lives, and stop use there money instead of stop using their money. Spelling and word formation errors, like situataion and acheive, also occur. These errors do not impede communication, placing the vocabulary firmly at the Band 6.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using conditional structures like If people simply accept their problem so they may never acheive their goals. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and missing prepositions, such as which is not control by itself instead of which is not controlled by itself, and every problem take time instead of every problem takes time. Punctuation errors, such as missing commas after introductory phrases and lower-case letters at the start of sentences (and i believe), are also noticeable. The majority of sentences contain minor slips, leading to a Band 6.0 score.
