IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing controversy about how to deal with difficult situation in life. Some people argue that it is better to just accept bad situation, such as job dissatisfaction or financial difficulty, while others contend that individulas should try to improve those situations. I believe that a balnaced approach would be the best strategy to overcome difficult times.

On the one hand, those who support the idea of accepting job dissatifaction or financial hardship argue that these conditions could be temporary. When comapnies and organization passing through difficulty, managers may apply more pressure on employess to make them work additional hours. Similarly people may pass through financial hardship during the year when they cannot find a job. For example, increasing the competition of cars manufacturing worldwide may reduce the sales of BMW cars, which may push company managers to requst additional working hours from cars designer to develop new design. In addition, people when they cannot secure a good salary job may not able to pay for their rented accommodation. AS a result, employess and ordinary people may suffer from stress because of these situation. However, this could be temporary as people can apply later for good job and earining a good salary, at the same time managers can reduce the work pressure on emplyees later when their cars sales increase. Therefore, I suggest these situations may not continue for long duration.

On the other hand, people that believe in working on bad stituations are better approach argue that individuals can make certain modification to aviod these difficulty. When employees suffer from excessive work stess, they can simply change their jobs. Eventualy they will avoid being under unnecessay stress. In addition, people who suffer from financail hardship can work in two jobs rather than just one, thereby increasing their monthly income, which enable them to pay for accommodation, utility bills. For instance, when associated dentist in NHS feel high mental stress that associated with daily work because of high number of patients they treated every day they can work only in private dental clinic, where they receive less number of patients. Subsequently, they will enjoy less work environemnt.

In conclusion, a balanced approach to deal with difficult times is the most effective strategy. Individuals can accept some difficulty during work, but in the same time when the stress is extremly high, it is better to search for another solutions to overcome these difficulties.
