Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that people should accept difficult situtation, such as an unsatisfactory job or lack of money. while other think that people should try to improve their circumstances. This essay will discuss both views, and i believe trying to improve a difficult situtation is generally a better choice.

On the one hand, accepting a bad situation can sometimes be a good choice. There are situations that people cannot change easily. For example, a person has a job which he don't like. but, they may need to continue working because of his family responsibilities. leaving the job without another job can create more financial difficulties. Also, create lots of stress and burden on them.

On the other hand, trying to improve a bad situtaion can improve their life in the future. For example, if someone is unhappy with their job he can improve their skills to get a better job. Similarly, some people do overshift to improve their financial condition and managing their time to learn more skills. also, people find another job while working in a job which allows them financial stable.

In my opinion, I believe fight with our difficult situtation can improve our life. At first it maybe very difficult but later thing got changed. In resullt, it will helps to inprove your skills and responsibilites.

In conclusion, There are situations that people not ready to change their work because they have to support their family. but they can change it by taking a difficults step for better life. However, without quiting thier job they can easily seach more reliable job which they can apply after their shift. also they have to manage their time to work on their skills to reach all requirements of a great career.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether to accept or improve a difficult situation and presents a clear personal position throughout. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported with examples, such as job dissatisfaction and financial responsibilities. However, some arguments lack full extension and tend to over-generalise, such as the brief and slightly repetitive treatment of career progression and time management in the body paragraphs and conclusion. Despite these minor limitations in depth, the main requirements of the task prompt are fulfilled satisfactorily. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the two opposing views and the writer's opinion. However, the progression within paragraphs sometimes feels disjointed due to mechanical cohesive devices and repetitive phrasing. For example, transitions like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting pronoun usage between singular and plural forms within the same argument (e.g., 'a person has a job which he don't like. but, they may need...'). Overall, the logical flow is somewhat affected by these structural hiccups, earning a band score of 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts related to work and finance, such as 'financial difficulties', 'family responsibilities', and 'skills'. There are, however, frequent errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'difficult situtation' (spelling and agreement), 'overshift', and 'financial stable'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but inaccuracies in derivation and spelling are noticeable throughout the text, though they do not seriously impede communication. This performance aligns well with the descriptors for a band score of 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'if someone is unhappy with their job he can improve their skills'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including basic subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'he don't like', 'thing got changed', 'it will helps'), incorrect capitalization at the start of sentences following periods, and run-on structures. While these errors are frequent, communication of the core ideas remains mostly intact, fitting the criteria for a band score of 5.0.
