Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—accepting a bad situation and trying to improve it—while providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited by some unclear reasoning and repetitive phrasing. For instance, the argument in the second paragraph regarding accepting a bad situation is somewhat contradictory and jumps between ideas, stating 'bad situation creates stress and problems, but it will make people will have experience'. The examples provided, such as teenagers facing financial crises, are somewhat generalized and under-developed. Nevertheless, a clear stance is presented throughout the essay, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and the conclusion. Transitional phrases such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the sentence 'It is because they give up quickly without halndling the situation,' where the pronoun lacks a clear antecedent. Additionally, the logical progression within the first body paragraph is disjointed due to abrupt shifts between ideas, resulting in a Band 6.0 for this criterion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'financial crisis', 'stress, anxiety and depression', and 'opportunities'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'accpeting' (spelling error), 'halndling', 'imporve', and 'broader his knowledge' (instead of 'broaden'). Word formation errors like these, along with repetitive use of basic terms like 'bad situation', indicate that vocabulary control is inconsistent. Despite these flaws, the meaning remains clear throughout, aligning with the descriptors for a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures ('If a person step out he/she will definitely learn...') and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('bad situation creates', 'person... who can find'), tense inconsistencies, and missing pluralization ('a person working in a company is not happy with the job who can find the better job that suits him'). Punctuation errors and typos also occur, such as semicolon misuse ('example;') and spelling slips. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, placing the response firmly at a Band 5.0.
