IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The assertion to acknowledge an unpleasant circumstance like unsatisfactory work or economic recession is fruitful while others' contention is to struggle and ameliorate such disappointing hardships. Although it is necessary to first admit unsuitable situation in order to determine the most optimized solution but the effort needed to mitigate such experience must not be taken for granted.

Firstly, admitting unacceptable events in life are the foremost primary remedy to expect happiness in life. It seems nearly impossible to tackle with them, without accepting mishaps. For instance, international undergraduate students had to accept odd jobs, even though these jobs are not up to their standards. In spite of that they will proceed those unsatisfactory employment to meet their educational expenses and eventually become capable of good earnings.

However, Efforts are of utmost importance in this regard. Solely, acceptance is not enough. Struggle also plays a vital role for the better quality of lifestyle. During an economic recession, it may be harder to find job and, results in financial crises. Thus, acquiring appropriate practical competence strengthen your chance of better career prospects. In this way you can struggle and improve such situations.

In my view, the dichotomy between acceptance and improvement is false. An optimized approach should be adopted. We should first accept the situation, make a plan and get consistent with efforts to escape out of it. If someone wants to become prosper in his or her life then he or she should adopt positive attitude with consistence. For example, if you want to lose weight then you had to be consistent with exercise, nutritious diet and a healthy lifestyle. Overall, we need to consider the issue before taking steps to improve it. Wisdom lies in solving concerns more strategically.
