IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are some people who argue that an individual should accept if they find themselves in a bad situation, for example financial difficulty or dissatisfiction with their employement. However others perception about it is to fight back and eradicate such problems in life.In this essay I will elaborate on how the later perception is better and what factors and why people believe in it that life standards can be improved with a little efforts.People with former belief are sometimes more inclined spiritually that is why they recommend to tolerate the injusitice in life.
Firstly, people believe in hard work becuase is becuase they think if you learn a new skill and foster your personality etc you will make it in life. If you do not it will be difficult to earn more and bring mental peace with a typical mindset, which is in my perspective absolutely true. Learning new skills are essential in the new era becuase of the boom in innovation so a person should be able to adapt and put his mind to gain mamximum knowledge from each area and improve his/her life without wasting time and accept the situation they are living in. For instance, one of our colleague failed in an interview because he thaught whatever I have learned is more than enough and I should be proud of my knowledge rather to work more.
which cost him a job of not being able to keep himself updated.
However, Opninion of other community members is that God had written about your future and they think it is not possible to overturn your situation, so it is better to accept it and move on in your life. However it is not absolute there are so many examples of people who made their life including their families lives much better because they never give on their dreams. That is why former cricketer and phelanthropist Imran khan gives hsi example of how he become fast bowler from medium fast because it was all about my mentality.
In conclusion, I believe in the community members who think we should try and not lose hope rather than accepting life problems, which other people have give up on. Hardship comes in life which are for better future, an example of a story about thirsty crow is a great motivation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views (accepting bad situations versus trying to improve them) and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven and confused in places. For example, the writer occasionally mixes up the two positions, stating in the third paragraph that 'Opinion of other community members is that God had written about your future... so it is better to accept it', which creates confusion regarding who holds which view. Furthermore, some supporting ideas are rather colloquial or underdeveloped, such as referencing a 'thirsty crow' fable in the conclusion. Nonetheless, a clear position is maintained throughout, corresponding to a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts a logical progression of ideas with paragraphing. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. There are noticeable punctuation and spacing errors that disrupt the flow, such as 'employement. However others', missing spaces after commas, and orphaned sentence fragments like 'which cost him a job of not being able to keep himself updated.' Paragraphing is used, but the internal transitions and referencing between ideas lack smoothness. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or overused. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 to 5.5 range, warranting a Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'dissatisfiction', 'philanthropist', and 'adapt'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'employement', 'later' instead of 'latter', 'mamximum', 'thaught', 'Opninion', and 'phelanthropist'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently and demonstrate a lack of precision and control over less common lexical items, reflecting the characteristics of Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is weak. There are frequent errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'an individual should accept if they find themselves', 'Learning new skills are essential', 'rather to work more', and 'Hardship comes in life which are for better future'. Many complex structures are faulty, and punctuation errors are widespread (e.g., missing commas, incorrect capitalization after periods). Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, the grammar aligns best with Band 5.0.
