Student answer (Band 6.5)
in modern society , people often face difficulties such as unsatisfying job or shortage of money some people thinks it is the best to accept a bad situation while other individuals thinks it is better to try and improve such situations . according to my propensity altough accept these situations can provide stability people should improve their lives whenever possible .
On the one hand, there are several reasons why people choose to accept difficult situations. Firstly, changing one's circumstances can be risky and stressful. For example, a person who has a stable but boring job may hesitate to leave it because they have financial responsibilities such as paying rent or supporting their family. Secondly, some problems are temporary and may improve naturally with time. Therefore, accepting a difficult situation for a short period can help people avoid unnecessary stress and maintain financial security.
On the other hand, making an effort to improve a bad situation can provide significant long-term benefits. For instance, an employee who is unhappy with their job can develop new skills, gain qualifications or search for better employment opportunities. Similarly, someone facing financial difficulties can learn about budgeting, take additional work or improve their professional skills to increase their income. Although these steps may require considerable effort and patience, they can lead to greater satisfaction and a better quality of life.
In conclusion, accepting an unpleasant situation may sometimes be practical, particularly when changing it involves serious risks. However, I believe that people should not simply accept their problems permanently. Taking realistic steps to improve difficult circumstances is usually a more effective approach to achieving a stable and satisfying life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—accepting a bad situation versus trying to improve it—and clearly presents the writer's own opinion throughout. Main ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as exploring the financial responsibilities of a boring job and the steps an employee can take to develop new skills. However, there is a tendency to slightly over-generalize in places, which keeps the response at this level rather than a higher one. Note that 9 words copied directly from the task prompt were not counted towards the minimum length requirement. Ideas are generally well-developed, with a clear and consistent position maintained from the introduction through to the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are coherently arranged, using appropriate paragraphing where each body paragraph focuses on a distinct viewpoint. Cohesive devices are used effectively to connect ideas, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression is easy to follow. To reach the next level, the writer could make transitions even more fluid and ensure that referencing within paragraphs is completely seamless, avoiding any mechanical feel in how cohesive markers are deployed.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to discuss the prompt with some flexibility. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'financial responsibilities', 'professional skills', and 'unpleasant situation'. However, there are some noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and form, particularly in the introduction where phrases like 'unsatisfying job' and 'altough accept these situations' show minor issues with collocation and word form. Spelling is generally accurate, and vocabulary errors do not impede communication, but refining word choices would elevate the lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct subordinate clauses using markers like 'although', 'because', and 'when'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly in the introduction with missing capitalization, punctuation omissions, and subject-verb agreement slips such as 'people thinks'. Nevertheless, the majority of sentences in the body paragraphs are constructed with reasonable control, and grammar errors rarely impede communication. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free complex sentences and maintain tighter punctuation control throughout.
