Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, many people face difficult situations like they do not like a job they are doing or maybe not having enough money. Some people think we should just accept it,while other ones think we should give a try to change it.In this essay i will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On one hand, there are some reasons why accepting a bad situation can be good. Firstly, changing a job is not easy, when there is more competition in the field as well as economy is down or maybe market crash. If individual have a family to support ,he cannot just leave the job and wait for another one just like that. Also, some people think that if you are satisfied with what you are doing ,it is more peaceful. As an epitome my uncle works in a factory with low paying salary but he is happy with that and never complains about it.
On the other hand, I think that trying to improve the situation is better for most people. as i think some people undervalue themselves as they have potential to grow further but they stuck if they have mindset of being satisfied in small things. If we only accept a problem,Nothing will changes and we will stay in the same place for years. For instace,a person who is not satisfied with his job can learn new skills at evening, and after that he can find a better job with higher salary. In addition, when people try to solve there problems, they become more confident and strong.Money problem can also be solved by working extra hours or starting small business or even renting a asset.
In my opinion,I agree more with the second view.Of course,Sometimes it is necessary to be patient,But poeple should not give up their dreams. In conclusion,Although accepting a bas situation is easier, improving it give us better future and more opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views regarding whether to accept or improve a bad situation, and clearly presents a personal opinion. The main ideas are generally relevant, fulfilling the requirements for the mid-band level. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the discussion on why people might accept a bad situation is supported by an example of an uncle working in a factory, but the explanation regarding economic downturns is somewhat generalized and lacks deeper extension. To move to a higher level, all supporting arguments would need to be thoroughly elaborated with sustained, detailed reasoning throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs exploring opposing views, and the conclusion. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, guiding the reader through the discussion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, particularly with spacing issues after punctuation marks such as commas and periods (e.g., 'accept it,while other ones', 'job can be good. Firstly'). Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in the third paragraph. To achieve a higher score, the cohesive devices would need to be managed more flexibly and naturally, alongside flawless mechanical formatting and punctuation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'epitome', 'undervalue', and 'asset'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'low paying salary' instead of 'low salary' or 'low-paying job', 'market crash' instead of 'market crashes', and 'evening' instead of 'the evenings'. Spelling and word form slips also occur, such as 'for instace' and 'there problems' instead of 'their problems'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, reflecting a solid mid-range performance, but greater precision and lexical control are needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures like conditional sentences and subordinate clauses. There are, however, some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Nothing will changes' and 'improving it give us'), article omissions (e.g., 'start small business' or 'renting a asset'), and missing spaces after punctuation. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely obscured, and communication is maintained. To reach the next band, the writer would need to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate tighter control over complex grammatical patterns.
