Student answer (Band 5.5)

Several individuals think that is good to accept bad situation, such as lack of income and unsatisfactory employment. Others believe that it is better to enough try and enhance such situations. In my view, trying is better then accept bad situation because without failure there is no success.

On the one hand, many people perspective it is better to accept bad situation because they believe they can adopt patience, so they ca make good situation. For instance, if a person loss the job so it sometime double edged sword because they find good job. Moreover, when they can adopt patience, therefore they can again more experience and knowledge. In addition, although people can accept bad situation so they are more curious about somethings and they looking to other things that are best for them and also they create a laid-back person in the society.

On the other hand, some people believe it is better to try again and again and improve situation because when individuals stop try they can fail and without failure have no success. Furthermore, if a person fail, so they start slave away at work and enhance our situation. For example, if a student are fail in the exam, so they starting hard work, at the end they are much better then previous result and they are achieve more experience.

In conclusion, In my view, some people idea is better to improve our situation and start hard work. They are much better then the last situation because they cannot stop try.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and stating a clear personal opinion, which sits at this level of achievement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and restricted. For instance, the discussion on the first view mentions adopting patience and creating a laid-back person, but these points are under-developed and lack clear, logical explanation. Similarly, the second view relies heavily on simple repetitive statements such as 'without failure have no success' rather than deeply exploring the benefits of striving for improvement. The examples provided, such as failing an exam and working hard, are somewhat simplistic and briefly stated. To reach a higher level, the ideas would need to be extended and supported with more thorough, well-reasoned arguments rather than over-generalised claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the two different views. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, which is typical of this band. For example, cohesive devices and conjunctions like 'Moreover,' 'In addition, although,' and 'Furthermore' are used, but they often link sentences that lack a smooth logical progression. The transitions between ideas feel abrupt, and pronouns are occasionally used in ways that make the connections ambiguous, such as in the sentence 'if a person fail, so they start slave away'. A higher level of coherence would require more flexible, natural management of cohesive devices and a clearer logical progression throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic meaning of the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'double edged sword' and 'laid-back person', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and phrasing. For instance, the expression 'start slave away at work' contains a clear error in word form, and phrases like 'again more experience' demonstrate inaccurate word choice where 'gain' was intended. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'then' instead of 'than'. These lexical inaccuracies and limitations sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a stronger result, the writer would need to employ a wider and more precise range of vocabulary with accurate word formation and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text. Examples include 'Several individuals think that is good to accept bad situation', 'if a person loss the job', and 'if a student are fail in the exam, so they starting hard work'. The frequent use of redundant connectors like 'so' alongside incorrect verb conjugation causes difficulty for the reader and prevents the sentences from achieving clarity. To progress, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, ensure accurate verb tenses, and eliminate frequent basic structural errors.
