Student answer (Band 6.5)
When people face difficult situtions, like a bad job or a lack of money, they react in different ways. Some believe that it is better to accept these problems, while other think it is good to try to improve them. In my opinion, working hard to change a bad situation is the best choice.
On the one hand, some people choose to accept the bad situation because it brings peace of mind. Trying to change hard circumstances cna cause stress, worry, and fear of failure. For instance, if someone has a low-paying job, quitting might mean only losing their income. Therefore, accepting their reality helps them feel safe and avoids taking big financial risks.
On the other hand, attempting toimprove bad situations is essential for progress and long-term fulfillments. Accepting hardship often results in stagnation, preventing individuals from reaching their full potential. By taking active steps such as acquiring new skills, searching for better job opportunities, or budgetting strictly, people can dramatically alter their foutunes. For example, many successful entrepreneurs bagan in poverty but transformed their lives through continuous effort and resilience. Thus, proactive problem-solving fosters self-reliance and unlocks opportunities that passive acceptance never provide.
In conclusion, although accepting a difficult situation can provide short-term stabilityand reduce mental stress, I believe that striving for improvement is far more beneficial. Taking initiative enables citizens to break free from hardship, achieve personal growth, and secure a more fulfilling future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear opinion: “working hard to change a bad situation is the best choice.” The acceptance paragraph gives a relevant reason—security and reduced stress—and the example of risking income helps explain it. Your argument for change is more fully developed, with practical steps such as gaining skills and seeking better work, followed by an example of entrepreneurs. This uneven development means some parts of the task are addressed more fully than others. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more development. To strengthen it, explain the acceptance view in greater depth and make the entrepreneur example more specific or directly connected to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” guide the reader effectively. Within paragraphs, ideas generally move from claim to explanation and example. Some linking is a little formulaic, however, and the final sentence of the second body paragraph combines several outcomes without showing their relationships in detail. The phrase “Thus” provides a clear link, but the paragraph could connect its example more explicitly to the preceding practical steps. Use a wider range of natural transitions and clearer references between claims and examples to make cohesion more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “peace of mind,” “financial risks,” “stagnation,” “full potential,” and “self-reliance.” These choices help express both the security of acceptance and the benefits of taking action. There are also several spelling errors, including “situtions,” “budgetting,” and “foutunes,” as well as inaccurate or awkward forms such as “long-term fulfillments” and “unlock opportunities that passive acceptance never provide.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations and word forms. For example, “long-term fulfilment” is more idiomatic, while “passive acceptance never provides” requires a singular verb to match its subject.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if someone has a low-paying job, quitting might mean only losing their income” and a concession in the conclusion beginning “although.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and paragraph-level control is generally sound. Some grammatical errors remain, including “other think” instead of “others think” and “opportunities that passive acceptance never provide,” where the verb does not agree with its subject. There are also missing spaces that interrupt sentence presentation, such as “attempting toimprove” and “stabilityand.” These are occasional issues rather than barriers to understanding. Proofread agreement and sentence boundaries, and continue using varied complex structures while checking each clause for accurate subject–verb relationships.
