Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts both sides of the question and gives an opinion, so the main parts of the task are recognisable. However, the discussion is only minimally developed: the first body paragraph refers to people doing hard work and receiving low salaries, but the connection to accepting a bad situation is unclear. The second paragraph says people can improve their skills through difficult experiences, yet it does not explain how this helps them improve an unsatisfactory job or financial circumstances. The opinion that “both are situations better” is also unclear and does not establish which view you support. To strengthen the response, explain each view directly with a specific example, then state and justify a consistent position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an identifiable essay shape, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” helps readers recognise these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or loosely connected. For example, the first body paragraph moves from education to hard work, noble families and low salaries without making the relationships clear. The conclusion repeats much of the second body paragraph rather than summarising the argument. Some linking phrases, including “Therefore” in the introduction and “Resultantly” in the body, do not create a clear logical connection. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use references and transitions that show how each sentence relates to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The response uses a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “unsatisfactory work,” “salary,” “skills” and “experience,” and attempts to discuss employment and personal development. However, vocabulary is repetitive and frequent spelling and word-choice errors strain the reader’s understanding. Examples include “harmfil time,” “inhance,” “salery,” “empolyes” and “experance.” Some expressions are also unclear or unnatural, such as “take a harmful time” and “income shortage.” Build accuracy with common collocations before attempting more ambitious wording: for instance, use “accept a difficult situation,” “earn a low salary” and “develop new skills.” Proofreading for spelling and checking unfamiliar words will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, and the response includes some basic linking structures. However, grammatical control is limited, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “there are lot of person do hardwork” lacks correct article, plural and verb structure, while “they have doing work” uses an incorrect verb form. Agreement and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “some people have not educated, that is have biggest issues in our life.” Commas and full stops are often placed in ways that interrupt the sentence, as in “they do work but, is very difficult time.” Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine them using controlled clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation when editing.
