Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely debated whether individuals should accept a bed situations or try to improve such situations. Some people argue that it is best to accept that, while other believe that individuals should overcome these problems. From my perspective, I strongly agree that people should improve thier issues because it the only possible way to fulfill their objectives.

On the one hand, some people believe that it is better to accept bad situation. This is becasue individuals think that, they can not solve a particuler problem or they may treid various time but could not succeed. For examaple, a person is working in the office in the same designation for the past couple of years and tried several time to get a promotion but unfortunatley they could not succeed. At the end they may lose the hope and give up. Therefore, if people tries multiple time to achieve something but they might be not successful at the end they may lose their motivation and they give up.

On the other hand, some people believe that they should put efforts and try to improve such situations. This is becasue they believe that if they they are facing some sort of problem such as financial issue or ununsatisfactory job they will work hard and overcome such problems. For instance, a graduate student is applying for job, at the begnining they may face several rejection form HR, but at the end can they can get thier dream job. Therefore, if individual work hard they can successful because hard work pays off. In my opinion, this view is more convincing because if individuals do not give up and try to improve worst situation they can improve their overall life.

In conclusion, there are valid arguments on both sides on this issue, I believe that people should work hard to overcome such situation because it can help individuals to find there dream opportunity and fulfill their objectives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: accepting a difficult situation may follow repeated failure, while effort can lead to improvement. The promotion example supports the first view, and the graduate’s job search illustrates persistence; your conclusion also restates your preference clearly. This covers the task, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. The first example mainly describes giving up, without exploring when acceptance might be sensible or what benefits it could bring. The second relies on the broad claim that “hard work pays off,” so the link between effort and a realistic improvement could be developed further. Explain the reasoning behind each view and add more specific support to make the discussion more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed with the relevant arguments. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, particularly through repeated “Therefore” statements and repeated references to people trying or giving up. Some links also repeat rather than advance the reasoning. For example, the first body paragraph restates the idea of repeated failure and lost motivation. Reduce repetition, use clearer pronoun references, and make each sentence add a distinct step to the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “promotion,” “financial issue,” “rejection,” and “overcome.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “bed situations,” “thier issues,” “particuler problem,” and “ununsatisfactory job.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “same designation” and “find there dream opportunity.” Repetition of “problem,” “situation,” and “hard work” further restricts the vocabulary. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they make the writing less fluent and occasionally require interpretation. Build a bank of accurate collocations for employment and financial hardship, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if they…work hard” and clauses introduced by “because” and “but.” This gives the response some variety, and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range remains limited, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. Examples include “other believe” and “if people tries,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “because it the only possible way,” which is missing a verb. The sentence beginning “For instance, a graduate student…” also contains a confusing construction: “at the end can they can get.” Articles and sentence boundaries need attention as well. Practise accurate agreement, complete clauses, and controlled complex sentences before adding more elaborate structures.
