Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a personal position: the essay contrasts accepting an unsatisfactory job with trying to improve one’s circumstances, and the conclusion supports taking action and learning skills. This covers the main parts of the prompt. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first body paragraph is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain why people may choose acceptance; the second gives a more relevant example about a doctor seeking higher income, but the example and its consequences are not fully explained. Your position is also expressed unclearly in the introduction and conclusion. Develop each view with a clear reason and explain how your example supports it. The 267-word count includes 8 words copied from the prompt, which were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from family and friends’ influence to leaving a job and business losses without showing the links between these ideas. Some transitions are awkward or incomplete, such as “When, workers are not completely fine with work or money that period” and “What types of their requirements.” Referencing is also unclear in places. To improve, organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain it and connect the example directly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “unsatisfactory job,” “financial situations,” “higher income,” and “new skills.” These choices show awareness of the subject and some effort to express ideas beyond very basic language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent, including “signifiacntly,” “inhance,” “enviroment,” “Consecently,” and “knowleg.” Several expressions are also unnatural or unclear, such as “native situation,” “searching new loction,” and “encourage greate life,” which make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for work and financial circumstances, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer clear, familiar phrasing over ambitious expressions you cannot yet control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening with “While others argue…” and conditional ideas about leaving a job. However, many sentences contain errors in clause construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation, and these sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “people has facing” and “people has think” have incorrect verb forms, while “a poor conditions” has an article–plural mismatch. The opening fragment beginning “While others argue” is not joined correctly to the preceding sentence, and “i believe that better to try” is missing a grammatical subject and verb structure. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, then add subordinate clauses and check punctuation.
