Student answer (Band 6.0)

Whenever you are dealt with a bad situation like an unwanted job or not having enough money, it is best to accept it. It is best to experience the situation, analyse it, reflect on it, and then accept it for yourself. While this may seem difficult to do in the beginning, but it is essential to do so that it doesn't occur again. Analysing and reflecting on the situation helps you unlock answers to "why" it happened or "what" made it happen and many more. And accepting it helps you stay at peace with your life.

Many people believe that it is best to do so, whereas others argue that it is better to not just accept, but to try and improve such situations. Trying to understand the cause behind such situations and trying to improve them is the best thing to do. For example, when you land an unsatisfactory job, try to understand why it isn't satisfying, it might not pay well, it may not be in your preferred location, etc. Then once you understood the root cause of it, you can improve the situation by changing the job, location, or asking for a higher pay.

In my opinion, I don't believe either of them is better than the other. In fact, You need both of these for the best outcome in a bad situation. Accepting a bad situation helps you stay peaceful and calm, and trying to understand it and contantly imptoving it gets you out of the bad situation in no time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear position: your conclusion argues that acceptance and efforts to improve should be combined. The discussion of acceptance explains how reflection may help someone understand a setback and remain at peace, while the job example makes the improvement view more concrete. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first is explained mainly through reflection and emotional calm, without showing when accepting a situation is preferable or what its limits are. The example also focuses on changing a job or asking for higher pay, rather than exploring the money-shortage situation in the prompt. Develop each view with a fuller reason and example, then explain more precisely how your combined position applies.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces acceptance, presents the case for improvement, and ends with your own view. The example follows logically from the discussion of an unsatisfactory job, and phrases such as “For example” and “In my opinion” help signal shifts. At times, however, the progression is repetitive: “analyse,” “reflect,” and “understand the cause” recur without clearly advancing the argument. The opening paragraph also moves from accepting a situation to preventing its recurrence, a connection that could be made clearer. Use topic sentences to distinguish the two views, and make the conclusion explicitly connect the reasons from both body paragraphs rather than restating that both are needed.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, with relevant expressions such as “root cause,” “unsatisfactory job,” and “higher pay.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt some more specific language rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated uses of “bad situation,” “best,” and “trying to.” There are also spelling errors in “contantly” and “imptoving,” and “unlock answers” is an awkward collocation in this context. Aim for more precise alternatives and check spelling carefully. A broader range of terms for financial hardship, job dissatisfaction, and practical responses would help you express the argument with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional language in “when you land an unsatisfactory job” and a longer sentence explaining how to identify its cause. Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical choices need correction. In “While this may seem difficult to do in the beginning, but it is essential,” remove “but” after the introductory “While” clause. “Then once you understood the root cause” should use a consistent tense, such as “once you understand the root cause.” The final sentence also needs a clearer parallel structure between accepting the situation and trying to improve it. Review clause linking and tense consistency, and use a wider variety of accurately controlled complex sentences.
