IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the society people have different opinios or views according to their thoughts and imaginations. some admit hard circumstances or their unsatisfaction from job and have not too much money. While others believe that it is good to attempt for improvement of these situations.
Firstly the people who accept their situation including having less money and not a good job they have. These type of people mostly are full of gratitude and they are happy on what they have. Few of them beleive that what they have is their fate so they are satisfied. For example Ali is living in a small house have not a good job but his family life is full of happiness and he is happy in all the overall situation.
On the other hand second type of people are those who often argue that A person or an individual must have to try to move out of these worse situations. These type of people are who love to challenge themselves and want change in their lives. Like in Japan after Worl War II as they vanished from the map all of their industries or infrastructure got destroyed. At that time instead of admitting the situation they worked hard and again become more powerful than its previous version.
In final words both views are according to scnerios indiviuals have in their lives. But where i concern it is good to give hundered percent of yourself to achieve or to move out of that worse situation instead of wasting whole life in it .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear personal opinion: the first body paragraph presents acceptance as gratitude and contentment, while the second argues for striving to improve one’s circumstances. The examples of Ali and Japan after the Second World War make the discussion relevant, and your conclusion reinforces your preference for taking action. However, the two positions are not developed equally in depth. The acceptance paragraph relies mainly on one personal example, and the Japan example would be more persuasive if you explained more precisely how collective rebuilding illustrates individual efforts to improve a difficult situation. Clarifying the circumstances in which acceptance may be sensible would also make the discussion more balanced and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” help signal the movement between arguments, and the reader can follow your main line of thought. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, however. “On the other hand second type” repeats the transition, while “In final words” is an awkward signal for the conclusion. The opening sentence about people having different opinions does not lead directly into the specific debate. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s main point explicit, then linking its example back to that point; also use clearer references instead of phrases such as “these type of people.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “hard circumstances,” “gratitude,” “challenge themselves,” and “infrastructure.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “move out of these worse situations.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the reader pause. For example, “their unsatisfaction from job,” “happy on what they have,” and “full of happiness” are not idiomatic in this context. Spelling errors such as “opinios,” “beleive,” and “scnerios” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for discussing employment, financial hardship, acceptance, and personal improvement, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and a conditional-style example about Japan. The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur in several places. For instance, “These type of people” should use a plural demonstrative, and “Ali is living in a small house have not a good job” combines clauses without a correct grammatical link. The sentence beginning “At that time instead of admitting the situation” also needs clearer structure and more accurate verb forms. Aim to make each sentence complete, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and use complex clauses only when their relationships are clear.
