Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people have different views about dealing with difficult life situation. While some believe that it is better to accept tough situation such as unrewarding job or financial trouble. Other think that individual should make efforts to change them. In my opinion, although acceptance bring mental piece, taking action to improve the situation is a far better choice.

On the one hand, some people prefer to accept there negative circumstances. Firstly fighting against a bad situation all the time can lead to extreme mental stress and depression. If a person continuously worries about not having money they may loose piece of mind and damage there health. Therefore, accepting reality allows individuals to be satisfied with what they have and live peacefully. For instance, many people with low-paying jobs learned to budget their expenses strictly which prevent them from getting into debt of taking unnecessary financial risk.

On the other hand, different group argue that striving to overcome hard shape is essential for personal growth. If everyone simply accepted there bad situation then nobody would achieve success in life. When workers are unhappy with there current employment they can upgrade their skills, complete online certification or look for better opportunities in the market which help in self development. Similarly, individual suffering from a shortage of fund and toxic environment without attempting to change it can destroy ambition and career prospective. Proactive individual not only solve there immediate problems but also build resilience and confidence to tackle future challenges.

In conclusion, although accepting an adverse situation can temporarily safeguard and individual emotional well being during unavoidable crises, settling for less hinders. To my perspective, individual should constantly look for ways to overcome there difficulties and look for better opportunities as an active effort is the key to achieving a fulfilling and successful life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: acceptance may protect mental well-being, but taking action is preferable. The two body paragraphs are relevant, with examples such as budgeting on a low income and workers gaining skills or seeking better jobs. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are more fully explained than others: the acceptance paragraph focuses mainly on financial hardship, while the discussion of an unsatisfactory job is brief. The conclusion also introduces the idea of “settling for less” without explaining when acceptance might be sensible or unavoidable. To strengthen the response, develop both examples more evenly and clarify the limits of your recommendation to keep trying to improve circumstances.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the discussion easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph. This is a sound foundation. At times, however, the linking feels formulaic, and some references are unclear—for example, “change them” does not specify whether “them” refers to situations or circumstances. The final paragraph also moves quickly from acknowledging acceptance to recommending constant effort. Use a wider range of links and make references explicit; ensure each paragraph develops one central point before moving to its example or implication.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “unrewarding job,” “financial trouble,” “mental stress,” “upgrade their skills,” and “build resilience and confidence.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some phrases are appropriately formal. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “mental piece” for “peace of mind,” “hard shape” for “hardship,” “shortage of fund,” and “career prospective.” There are also awkward collocations such as “debt of taking unnecessary financial risk.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but they limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If everyone simply accepted their bad situation…” and a concession in the introduction beginning “although.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include missing or incorrect articles and agreement in “difficult life situation,” “acceptance bring,” and “which prevent them”; “Other think” also needs a plural subject form. The conclusion contains a faulty construction in “safeguard and individual,” and its final sentence is difficult to control. These are some errors across the response, rather than a breakdown in communication. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a complete, grammatically consistent structure.
