Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many country people say that we should accept bad situation like bad job or less money. But other think we must change it. This essay will discuss both side and my opinion.
On the one hand, some person believe accepting problem is good choice. Life is very difficult and sometime you can not do nothing. If you always fight with your life, you will feel tired and stress. For example, my friend have a boring job with low salary. He stay in that job because he think change is hard and market is not good right now. He always say "better safe than sorry" and just try to happy with what he get.
On the other hand, other person think we need to make effort to fix our problem. If people just accept bad things, nothing will never get better. For instance, if you hate your job or earn very small money, you can learn new skill after work or look for better company. My cousin is working in the small shop with very low salary but he study at late night and now he is working as a IT guy.He make much more money and look very happy because he tried to change his life.
In my opinion, I think we need to balance both way. Sometime when life is too hard and we can not control everything, we should accept it for peace of mind. But if we have a chance to improve our situation we must try our best instead of iving up to fast.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear, balanced opinion: accepting circumstances can protect peace of mind, while making an effort can improve them. The examples of your friend and cousin make the discussion relevant, and the cousin’s progress illustrates the benefits of trying to change a situation. This meets the task well, though the two views are not developed equally in depth. The first side relies mainly on the general claim that change is difficult, while the second gives more practical detail about learning skills and seeking a better employer. To strengthen the response further, explain more fully when acceptance is sensible and what limits a person’s ability to improve their circumstances, then connect those points explicitly to your balanced conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed in the relevant paragraphs. Some linking is mechanical, however, and several ideas are joined in a way that makes their relationship less clear, as in “If you always fight with your life, you will feel tired and stress.” The conclusion also moves quickly from accepting what cannot be controlled to trying to improve what can be changed. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make the final paragraph show how the two positions fit together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “low salary,” “market,” “learn new skill,” and “peace of mind.” The examples also show some ability to express practical actions rather than relying only on general statements. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are noticeably inaccurate, such as “bad situation,” “make effort,” “try to happy,” and “iving up to fast.” These sometimes make the phrasing awkward, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for employment, financial difficulty, and coping with circumstances, and check collocations and word forms when editing. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish accepting a situation from giving up or adapting to it.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If people just accept bad things, nothing will never get better” and “if you hate your job or earn very small money, you can learn new skill.” This gives the essay some variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and in the more ambitious clauses. Examples include “In many country,” “some person believe,” “my friend have,” and “He stay in that job”; there are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as the missing space after “guy.” Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and article use, then proofread each sentence. Aim to make your complex sentences accurate before adding further structural variety.
