Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals argue that it is better to accept a bad situation, such as a job where you are not satisfied or not having enough money because when people have no other option and they need to survive and manage expenses so for that situation, instead of being unemployed they should atleast try to do something to support themselves financially and if they have chance that they can improve their livings by adapting new technology and requirements required to do a better job then they should definately put efforts to avail that opportunity.

On the one hand, individuals should focus on accepting situations where they need to do things which they do not want to such as doing jobs where they are not keen of doing and also when people do not have enough money to survive. This is because, if they will only focus on finding or getting a job they are intrested in, they might lose that availed opportunity which is helping them to manage their expenses as much possible. Moreover, that might make them frustrated and depressed because of financial burden and losing the only resource of managing these expenses for not accepting the situation they are in. For instance, A person who graduated in a computer field but did not get a job in that field due to not having good enough skill. So, that person have to get a job to support his family in a field which might not make him satisfied and do not have enough salary but they need to accept that situation because they do not have any other option. As a result, It is beneficial to accept a bad situation when we dont have opportunities to get a better satisfied job rather than being unemployed.

On the other hand, if individuals have opportunities where they can improve their circumstances by putting some effort and dedication, they should definately try to work hard to get that opportunity and improve their living standards. This is because, if they will not adopt the new innovations and technologies that are restricting them to stay behind and do jobs they are not interested because they avoid to put efforts to work on getting that opportunity. For example, A software engineer who has software development skills but due to advancements in technologies, he is unable to adopt them and people who adopt these new innovations are getting promoted because every organization want employees that adopt the situations and improve their skills to get long-term benefits. As a result, people need to adopt the situations and put efforts to improve their skills if they want better future and want to improve their living.

To sum up, i partially believe that both circumstances such as accepting a bad situation and trying to improve it have their own benefits and limitations. It depends on individual's mindset how they want to manage their financial and living situations. Overall, it can be seen that when we have no other option for improving our living standards then we should accept the circumstances and live a stable life otherwise if we have opportunity to improve our situations then we should definately put efforts for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a conditional opinion: accepting a difficult situation may be necessary when there is no alternative, while effort to improve is worthwhile when an opportunity exists. The examples of the graduate taking available work and the software engineer needing to update skills are relevant and help explain each side. However, the first paragraph largely repeats the idea that people should accept work to meet expenses, rather than establishing a distinct overview. Some points are also asserted more than developed—for example, the consequences of accepting an unsatisfactory job and the practical steps for improving one could be explained more fully. Make your position explicit earlier and extend each main idea with clearer reasoning to strengthen the response’s coverage of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an opening, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed with the relevant arguments. However, the opening is a very long sentence that combines several ideas, and some links feel mechanical because “This is because” and “As a result” recur in similar ways. References such as “that situation” and “that opportunity” can also be vague when several circumstances have just been mentioned. Use shorter sentences to separate claims and explanations, vary linking methods, and make pronoun references more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for employment and financial circumstances, including “financial burden,” “living standards,” “advancements in technologies,” and “long-term benefits.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. However, several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “improve their living” and “better satisfied job,” while “adopt the situations” does not express the intended meaning naturally. There are also spelling and form errors, including “definately,” “intrested,” and “livings.” Aim for more accurate collocations and vary repeated words such as “situation,” “opportunity,” and “improve.” Proofreading for spelling will also make your vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, using clauses with “because,” “if,” and “when” to explain causes and conditions. This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, some sentences are overloaded and contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For example, “that person have to get a job” should use a singular verb, and “if they will only focus” is not the appropriate verb pattern after “if.” The opening sentence also runs through several clauses without clear punctuation. Break long sentences into manageable units, check subject–verb agreement and conditional forms, and review sentence boundaries and capitalization.
