Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that people work very hard to get a better job for finacial security and the purpose of life. In this regard, in recent years, there has been increasing debate about whether it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money or better to try and improve such situations. This essay will outline not only both views but also my opinion which is in the favour of latter point of view in forthcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, during the situation such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money it is best to accept the situation because it is better as compare to live with zero income. However, unsatisfactory job can turn to be difficult and unmotivating but it will improve individuals patience and money management skills. It will help to cope with stress being unemployed.

Nevertheless, people can learn some additional skills, such as communication skills, technical skills or ai skills for part time work. These situations can be tackle by temporary hardwork and discomfort to improve long term benefits like increase in payscale. For example, many post office workers suffers from low salary in starting years but with the experience they get good rise in amount of their salaries per year. Skill such as Business management help to build easy home bussiness alongside the job.

In the conclusion, in my opinion, people should have to improve their situation so they get some peace in their workplaces and jobs by learning useful skills or working as part time. However, by accepting the situation they can prevent from the upcoming stress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both positions and state a clear preference for trying to improve difficult circumstances, especially through learning skills or taking part-time work. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the first view is supported mainly by the claim that accepting a job is better than having no income, while the second relies on brief examples and general benefits. The post-office example does not clearly explain how workers improve their situation, and the conclusion introduces preventing stress without resolving the contrast. The response contains 244 words, six below the 250-word minimum; the 27 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and a relevant, fully explained example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “Nevertheless,” and “In the conclusion” help signal movement between sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from accepting a job to patience and money management, then to coping with unemployment, without explaining the connections. The second paragraph also shifts quickly from skills to salary increases and home businesses. Some transitions feel formulaic, and the conclusion repeats the preference rather than bringing the main arguments together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting point explicitly to the paragraph’s central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial security,” “unsatisfactory job,” “technical skills,” and “long-term benefits,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to use less common expressions such as “cope with stress” and “money management skills.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts less natural: “better as compare to live,” “increase in payscale,” and “good rise in amount” are examples. Spelling errors such as “finacial,” “bussiness,” and “hardwork” are noticeable. Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling; for instance, describe salary growth as “a pay rise” or “salary progression,” rather than “good rise in amount.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “workers … but with the experience they get good rise” and a purpose clause in “so they get some peace.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “during the situation such as,” “it is better as compare to live,” and “These situations can be tackle,” where sentence patterns, verb forms, or agreement are not controlled. There are also errors in “many post office workers suffers” and “people should have to improve.” Practise building accurate clauses with correct verb forms and agreement, and use simpler constructions when unsure. Proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
