Student answer (Band 4.5)

So, some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, unstatisfactory job or shortage of money because for some people consistency and comfort values more than to have a better job or improve their situations. Because in order to gain those things one might have to think out of the box and leave their comfort zone and struggle at the start. Whenever we try to start a new job or try to better our livestyle, hurdles are bound to come and its never going to be as easy as to just stay in the previous situation and not look for anything better. This is why a lot of people accept their situation which is both mental and physical, because in order to even improve you physical situation like to improve the standard of living or improve your physical health you have to accept in your mind the things that i can doing rightnow are not good enough and i have to improve, if this thought never comes to the mind then you will be happy and content with the situation you are in and not look for any improvements, because that is going to challenge your comfort zone, it is going to challenge yourself to change alot of your habit in order to improve your physical and mental situation as a whole. Not everyone is capable of challenging their ownself and try to improve. Thus, a lot of people believe that the situation they are already in is the best possible for themselves, because they are sacred of the uncertainty to change that comes when you try to improve and leave you unsatisfactory job or the shortage of money by trying a new job or a bussinues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response focuses on why people may accept an unsatisfactory job or financial difficulty, especially because change brings uncertainty and challenges their comfort zone. This is relevant discussion of one view, but the task asks you to discuss both views and give your own opinion. The argument for trying to improve the situation is not developed as a distinct view, and there is no clear personal position; the final sentence continues explaining acceptance rather than stating which approach you support. The ideas that are present are also repeated more than extended with examples or consequences. To improve, explain why people might seek better work or financial security, then state your view clearly and support it with a specific example. The response meets the stated length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a recognisable central focus: the response moves from comfort and consistency to the difficulties of change and fear of uncertainty. However, the ideas are presented in one long paragraph, with no clear separation between the two views or a concluding statement. Several sentences run on and contain multiple related points, making the progression difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “This is why,” “Thus,” and “because” show an attempt to connect ideas, but the repeated causal pattern becomes mechanical, and some references, such as “those things,” are not precise. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and make each paragraph develop one main point in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “comfort zone,” “uncertainty,” “standard of living,” and “improve,” so the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “improve,” “situation,” and “challenge.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “unstatisfactory,” “livestyle,” “sacred” where “scared” is intended, and “bussinues.” Some expressions are awkward, such as “consistency and comfort values more” and “challenge their ownself.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make the argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt complex sentences using clauses with “because,” “whenever,” and “in order to,” but these structures are often difficult to control, and many sentences contain several clauses without clear punctuation. For example, the opening begins with “So” and then gives an incomplete “Because” clause, while “the things that i can doing rightnow are not good enough” has errors in verb form and sentence construction. There are also agreement and article problems, as in “consistency and comfort values,” and inconsistent capitalisation of “I.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. Build accuracy with shorter sentences first, then combine ideas using one well-formed subordinate clause at a time.
