Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides and include a personal view, so the response is relevant to the question. The example of persisting with English illustrates how someone may try to improve a difficult situation, while the account of a person facing financial hardship introduces the risks of accepting problems without seeking help. However, the discussion does not clearly explain the two positions: the first paragraph mixes accepting a bad situation with trying to improve it, and the second focuses on a tragic outcome rather than explaining why acceptance might be preferable. Your own opinion is also difficult to identify consistently; the conclusion mentions both positive and negative effects without stating which approach you support. Develop each view directly and finish with a clear, reasoned position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help show the intended structure. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear. The first body paragraph begins by discussing people who “will try to improve” but then says they “accept a bad situation,” so the relationship between the ideas is confusing. Some linking phrases are used mechanically or do not accurately express the connection, as in “As a result” followed by a repeated claim about improving English. The final paragraph also introduces points without clearly resolving the discussion. Organise each body paragraph around one view, then connect its explanation and example explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “unsatisfactory job,” “lack of money,” “drawback” and “decision,” and the reader can generally recognise the subject of the essay. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or inaccurately chosen, which sometimes makes meaning difficult to follow. For example, “confess a bad time” does not express accepting a difficult situation, and “recover this situations” is an unclear description of improving circumstances. There are also frequent spelling and word-form errors, including “wil,” “enhace,” “worse” written as “warse,” and “lever” for “level.” Build a reliable set of phrases for discussing hardship and change, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make some attempts to use complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “whereas” and “as,” and the response includes both simple and longer sentence forms. However, control is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences difficult to understand. For example, “other say that it is good to recover this situations” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction, while “I did not gave up” uses an incorrect verb form after “did not.” Agreement and tense are also unclear in “these times is warse” and “his took decision.” Punctuation around conjunctions is often faulty, particularly commas before “but” and “because.” Practise accurate basic clauses and verb forms before extending sentences.
