Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that accepting the difficult situation, for example unfulfilling job and financial problem, while other believe that trying to overcome that conditions is better than stuck in that conditions. I believe that keep trying to get out of that situation is better because exploring other thing may give us better opportunities. This essay will discuss both the views and my opinion in following paragraphs.

Nowadays, people are afraid of accepting the difficult situation, such as inferior job or less money. Because people are focusing more on materialist things than peaceful happy life they think like that having luxurious car, home is called as sucess and this narrative was created by society. They see other people having luxury life and we don't have and this ceate a fear of missing out. For instance someone going to europe on vacation and why I am not?. But people have to believe that accepting the situation is necessary because everyone comes from a different background.

On other hand people arguing that trying to get out of this situation is better option, because if someone have potential and still they are stuck there, for instance in today's world competetion is so high and competetors too so sometime it was possible that getting fair chance to everybody is not possibile. So everyone should have to look for better opportunities so we can improve our condition.

I personally believe that we always have to see overself in better condition and always should have to try to get better and better everyday. In conclusion, we can say that getting in bad situation due to some circumtances is ok but we have to accept those situation and prepare ourself to get in better situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for trying to improve one’s circumstances, especially in the introduction and the paragraph beginning “I personally believe.” The discussion of acceptance is relevant when you explain that people come from different backgrounds, while the second view includes the idea that people with potential should seek better opportunities. However, the arguments remain limited and are not developed with clear explanation. The example about seeing someone travel to Europe illustrates social comparison, but its connection to accepting a difficult situation is not fully explained. The conclusion also partly conflicts with your position by saying people “have to accept those situation.” Develop each view with a clearer reason and show how your final position follows from the discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your discussion. You also use basic linking expressions such as “For instance,” “On other hand,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and links can feel mechanical or imprecise. For example, the opening sentence contrasts accepting a situation with overcoming it, but the next paragraph shifts to fear of materialism without clearly connecting that idea to acceptance. Repeated references to “that situation” also make the argument less smooth. Use topic sentences that directly state each paragraph’s main point, then connect examples explicitly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “financial problem,” “potential,” “opportunities,” and “fear of missing out,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “materialist things,” “luxury life,” “competetion,” and “getting fair chance to everybody.” Spelling errors such as “sucess,” “ceate,” and “circumtances” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise phrases for employment and financial hardship, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Replacing repeated general expressions with accurate topic-specific vocabulary would make the discussion clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and an example introduced by “for instance.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “while other believe” lacks agreement, and “if someone have potential” uses an incorrect verb form. The opening sentence is also an incomplete, awkwardly joined contrast, while “we have to accept those situation” has a number-agreement error. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
