Student answer (Band 6.5)

People have different opinions about how to deal with difficult situatios. Some people believe that accepting a bad situation is the best way but some argues that people should try to improve it. In my opinion, although acceptness is something neccessry, people should try improve thier lives.

On the one hand, accepting a difficult situation is a sensible decision. This is because not every problem can be solved easily. For instance, a person who has a low-paying job may need to continue his working because he have to support his family. Similarly, finding a high-paying job may take much time, so accepting the current situation may reduce stress. Therefore, people something need to be patient and accept things that they cannot change immeditaly.

On the other hand, people should try to improve their lives whenever possible. If someone is unhappy with their job, they may find new opportunities and learn new skils. In the same way, people who struggle financialy can make a budget and try to find addtional source of income. Although these changes take time, they can help people to better life. If people always accept their problems without taking any action, they may lose opportunities to improve their future. Moreover, a risk-taker always find new ways to expand their skills and wants to be better sources of earning in future.

In conclusion, accepting a difficult situatin can be necessary in some circumstances, but i believe that trying to improve it is generally better. People should accept what they cannot change immeditaly while continuing to work towards a better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion: accepting difficulties can be necessary, but working towards improvement is generally preferable. The two body paragraphs support this position with relevant examples, including staying in a low-paying job to support a family and seeking new work or additional income. This meets the task well, and the conclusion reinforces your stance. To strengthen the response further, develop the reasoning behind some claims rather than leaving them general. For example, explain more specifically how budgeting or learning new skills could improve someone’s financial or employment situation. The point that “a risk-taker” finds new ways to earn is also broad; clarify what kind of risk-taking is sensible and how it supports your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: the introduction presents the issue and your view, each body paragraph discusses one side, and the conclusion summarises your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to follow. You also use cause-and-effect links, including “This is because” and “Therefore.” To make cohesion more flexible and natural, avoid relying mainly on explicit transitions and repeated sentence openings such as “Similarly” and “In the same way.” Connect some ideas through clearer referencing or explanation—for instance, show how the examples in the second body paragraph build on the idea of taking practical steps to improve one’s circumstances.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “low-paying job,” “support his family,” “new opportunities,” and “additional source of income.” Some phrasing also shows an attempt to express nuanced ideas, such as “what they cannot change immediately.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “situatios,” “neccessry,” “skils,” and “financialy.” There are also awkward or imprecise collocations, such as “acceptness,” “better life,” and “better sources of earning,” which reduce naturalness. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing established phrases—for example, “acceptance,” “improve their quality of life,” and “increase their earning potential.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures (“If someone is unhappy with their job, they may find new opportunities”) and a concession clause beginning “Although these changes take time.” These structures help you express contrast and consequences, and the overall meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “some argues,” the subject and verb do not agree; “he have to support” also needs agreement, and “people something need” has an unclear adverb position. The phrase “people should try improve” is missing “to,” while “a risk-taker always find” has a singular subject with a plural-form verb. Review agreement, infinitive patterns, and adverb placement. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
