Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response recognises both positions: accepting hardship is mentioned in the first body paragraph, while working hard to improve circumstances is discussed in the next, and you give a personal view that effort can lead to a better job. However, the discussion is minimal and the conclusion (“best to accept a bad situation”) conflicts with the opinion expressed just before it, so your position is not clear. The reasons are also vague and unsupported; for example, explain why someone might accept an unsatisfactory job, or how a specific effort could improve their finances. The response is 157 words, below the 250-word minimum; 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both views and state a consistent opinion to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic paragraph structure, with separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, so the reader can identify the intended stages of the response. Some linking expressions, such as “Furthermore” and “In my opinion,” also signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: the first body paragraph repeats that people accept problems without explaining the reason, and the second moves from working hard to affording things and improving a task without clear connections. The opening promises “main reason and solution,” which does not accurately preview the discussion. The final sentence also contradicts the preceding opinion. Use a clear topic sentence in each paragraph, connect each explanation to its main point, and make the conclusion consistent.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “accept a bad situation,” “shortage of money,” “work hard,” and “upper level post,” so the general topic is usually recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “lot of peoples,” “problems,” and “work hard.” Several choices or forms are inaccurate and make the meaning less natural, such as “affoard all things,” “increasing working limit,” and “improve their task.” Spelling errors such as “Firsty,” “instant,” and “acchieve” also weaken clarity. Build a more precise range for discussing employment and financial hardship, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe a job as “unsatisfactory” or “low-paid,” and use “improve their circumstances” rather than “improve their task.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer clauses, including “when they work hard day by day and increasing working limit,” but control of these structures is limited. Errors in articles, agreement, and verb forms occur repeatedly: “lot of peoples,” “they do not have a money,” and “when they working hard” should be corrected to forms such as “many people,” “they do not have money,” and “when they work hard.” The opening also begins a new sentence with lowercase “while,” and spacing before punctuation is inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “when.”
