Student answer (Band 6.0)

While a lot of individuals argued that accepting a bad situation, for example an undesired job or lack of money, is effective, others believed that it is best to give a try and change such situations. In my opinion, the urge to improve a bad situation should be the most chosen approach because it helps to have a lot of new opportunity as well as to be financially solvent.

There are a lot of reasons why some people believe that it is effective to accept a bad situation. First of all, when we do not have any other options, in that case it is wise to choose the bad situation, such as a job that one don't like or lack of money. Because the worst cases help a person to become strong in the tough times. It is said that something is better than nothing. So acepting a worse situation would be wise, otherwise one will end up being financially insolvent. Furthermore, a tough time helps people to know the surrounding people. For example, when one does not have enough money, and if his friends simply leave him in this situation, he can easily figure out who are of truly well-wishers.

Despite the above arguments, others believe that it is wise to work hard and improve such situations. When people work harder, a lot of new opportunity will open to them, These new opportunity will shape their career. And the probability of getting a desired and satisfactory job is very high compared with accepting a bad situation. In addition, the desire to improve a worse situation make people skillfull, and capable of doing any tasks. It will later give them the chance to find the right job, and help them to become financially solvent. So, I think the most effective approach is try to change and improve a worse condition.

In conclusion, altough it is considered best to adapt a bad condition, it is always wise to have the mentality to change those situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for trying to improve difficult circumstances, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of acceptance is relevant: you explain that having no alternatives may make it practical and that hardship can reveal which friends are supportive. The case for change is also supported through possible career opportunities and improved financial security. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that difficult times make people “capable of doing any tasks” is broad, and the link between accepting hardship and becoming stronger could be developed with a clearer example. More balanced explanation of when acceptance may be sensible would make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help readers follow the main points. However, some connections feel mechanical, and a few sentences do not link smoothly to the surrounding argument. The sentence beginning “Because the worst cases…” is a fragment, while “So accepting a worse situation would be wise” does not clearly follow from the preceding point about becoming strong. References such as “these new opportunity” also make the connection between ideas less clear. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each sentence’s relationship to the central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “financially insolvent,” “satisfactory job,” “surrounding people,” and “well-wishers.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “give a try and change,” “new opportunity will open,” and “the most chosen approach” do not sound idiomatic in this context. There are also spelling errors, including “acepting,” “skillfull,” and “altough,” and repeated use of “bad situation” and “wise.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling; this will make your meaning more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional clauses (“when we do not have any other options”) and comparisons (“compared with accepting a bad situation”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in both sentence structure and agreement. “Because the worst cases help a person…” is an incomplete sentence, and “a job that one don't like” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. In “a lot of new opportunity will open,” the plural noun and verb form need attention; later, “the desire … make people” also requires agreement. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are sometimes weak, particularly where a comma joins clauses before “These new opportunity.” Review agreement, complete-sentence structure, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
