Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different opinions regarding whether they should accept difficult circumstances or make efforts to change them. In my opinion, people should make efforts to improve their circumstance whether than accepting them without trying .

Firstly, there are many people who thinks making an effort to improve your life is worth trying instead of giving up without any effort. Because striving to make you life better gives you an opportunity to attain a better lifestyle. For example, if a person feels unstatisfied with his job he can learn a new skill which will help him to get a job of his own choice. It will not only bring him satisfaction but also improve his motivation to work. Taking action can lead to a better life. New opportunities can improves a person finanical condition.

On the other hand, some people thinks accepting some situation which are beyond your control is sometimes very helpful. Accepting reality can reduce stress and fustration. For example, in some circumstances people need to keep their jobs because their families are dependent on them . They do not have a luxury to choose the option of their choice because it will not only effect them but their whole family may suffer with them. In this situation people avoid taking an unecessary risks finding another job may be very difficult for them.

In conclusion, i strongly believe that people should make an effort to improve their lifestyle, if their circumstance allow them they should avail their chance for a better future whether than accepting an unsatisfactory job.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: you favour trying to improve one’s circumstances, while recognising that accepting a situation can be sensible when others depend on you. The examples about learning a new skill and keeping a job to support a family are relevant and help explain each position. This meets the task well, but the discussion is unevenly developed: the first view is supported with several benefits, whereas the reasons for accepting a bad situation are mainly limited to financial responsibility and risk. To strengthen the response, explain more fully when acceptance is appropriate and qualify your opinion—for example, by distinguishing circumstances that can realistically be changed from those outside a person’s control.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” make the contrast easy to follow, and the examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening of the first body paragraph, “Because striving to make you life better…”, is a fragment, and “Taking action can lead to a better life” repeats the preceding point rather than extending it. The conclusion also combines several ideas in one sentence. Use linking expressions more selectively and make each sentence build on the previous one, with clearer references to the specific circumstances being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “difficult circumstances,” “satisfaction,” “motivation,” and “reduce stress and frustration.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “dependent on them” and “financial condition.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “unstatisfied,” “fustration,” “unecessary,” and “finanical” are misspelled, while “a job of his own choice” and “avail their chance” sound unnatural. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “make an effort” and “better life.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, and vary repeated phrases with precise alternatives such as “improve one’s prospects” or “pursue a more suitable role.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if a person feels… he can learn” and a contrast between personal and family consequences. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. Examples include “people who thinks” (subject–verb agreement), “you life” (possessive form), “some situation which are” (number agreement), and “if their circumstance allow them” (agreement). The sentence beginning “Because striving…” is incomplete, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise checking agreement and sentence boundaries, and revise longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your argument clearer.
