Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the two broad positions: accepting difficult circumstances and trying to improve them. However, the response does not adequately discuss both views or give a clear personal opinion, so the task is addressed only minimally. The brief points that hardship can teach “the value of money and time” and build the ability to handle stress are relevant, but they are not explained with examples or reasoning. The final line, “Try again and again to improve such situation through patience,” hints at your preference, but does not clearly state or support it. The response is also 99 words, below the required 250; 29 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. Develop each view in a separate paragraph and state your opinion directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the topic, “Firstly” signals a point, and “However” and “Although” attempt to connect ideas. These features give the reader some indication of how the discussion is intended to proceed. However, the response is too brief to establish a clear overall progression, and the ideas are not grouped into developed paragraphs. The sentence beginning “While others argue…” is left incomplete, while “Try again and again…” appears as a separate fragment rather than a connected conclusion. Some links also do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. To improve, use a paragraph for each viewpoint, connect each explanation to a supporting example, and finish with a concise conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “unsatisfactory job,” “shortage of money,” “difficult days,” and “handle stress.” The opening image of life having “two faces” also shows an attempt to express the contrast in a memorable way. However, the range is limited, and several spelling or word-choice errors reduce accuracy, such as “arhue,” “stamena,” and “easy” where “essay” is intended. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “get what served on a table” and “bad circumstance never always remain same.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could use “financial hardship” and “cope with pressure” to express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “While others argue…” and a clause beginning “Although.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence structure. However, control is inconsistent: “Patience help us” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “bad circumstance never always remain same” has problems with number, verb agreement, and article use. “Will discuss both view” is missing a subject and uses an incorrect plural form, while “Although it increase…” is not a complete sentence and also has agreement and article errors. These issues sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise writing complete sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and using articles consistently.
