Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce both viewpoints and state a preference for trying to face and improve a bad situation, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion is only partial: the first view is briefly illustrated through people working to pay for food and rent, while the second view ends mid-sentence at “this largely beacuse” and is not explained. Your own opinion is mentioned but not supported with a developed reason or example. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, which contributes to the limited coverage. To improve, complete both sides of the discussion and explain your position with specific reasons and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response using an introduction and contrasting paragraph openings, “On the one hand” and “On the other hand.” These signals help the reader identify the two perspectives. However, the progression is incomplete: the final paragraph stops before presenting its main explanation, and there is no conclusion to bring the discussion together or restate your view. Some sentences also contain several ideas joined together, making the relationships between them difficult to follow. Use one clear main idea per paragraph, develop it in a logical sequence, and finish with a conclusion. Check that linking words connect complete, clearly related ideas rather than masking gaps in the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “unsatisfactory,” “salary,” “lifestyle,” and “source of incomes,” and you attempt to express ideas about financial pressure and future opportunities. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “diffrent,” “satiftaced,” “gape,” and “sircle.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “dealing with situation” and “fill the necessary gap in their lifestyle.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for employment and finances. For example, use “meet basic living costs” rather than “fill the necessary gap,” and “improve their income” rather than “improve their source of incomes.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example, “The main reason for this is that…” and “while some argue…”. This shows an effort to go beyond simple sentence patterns. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “will gives you,” “other believes,” and the opening sentence, which joins several clauses without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “Others believe that trying to improve the situation can provide more opportunities.” Use full stops to separate complete ideas, then check agreement and verb forms.
