Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as dissatisfied job or shortage of money, others dispute that it is better to try and improve such situations. In my opinion, it is better to strive and improve such circumstances.

Some people argue that the best way to handle difficult situations is to attempt again and again and enhance their ability to handle these situations. If you stuck in a difficult condition, you must try and put all your abilities to upgrade the situation. For instance, I was stuck in my low cgpa. I was worried about this, then I decided to try and improve my cgpa. however, I started my preparations and put all my efforts to achieve my desired cgpa and then I got. If they want to get rid from these hard situations, they must try and do hard work. If they do hard work, they can achieve satisfactory life style. They can live in luxury life style.

Those individuals who accept a bad situation. They have the life meaningless because they don't want to progress in life and also they don't a big aim in life. That's why they accept bad circumstances and don't put all forces on work. These circumstances may be in the form of job, shortage of money or any other problem in their life.

In conclusion, although some people believe that it is better to accept a bad situation, other argue that it is better to try hard work and improve these situations. In my opinion, it is best way to upgrade these circumstances by putting all efforts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you believe people should try to improve difficult circumstances. You also mention both perspectives, but the discussion is uneven. The case for trying is supported with a personal example about improving your CGPA, while the view that people may accept a bad situation is mostly dismissed as leading to a “meaningless” life, without explaining why someone might reasonably choose acceptance. This leaves the task only partially developed. The response is also 2 words below the 250-word minimum; the 22 words copied from the prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain both views fairly and develop each with a relevant reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can generally follow the main position. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the first body paragraph moves from general advice to a personal example and then to claims about hard work and luxury without clearly linking these points. The second body paragraph begins, “Those individuals who accept a bad situation,” as a sentence fragment, which interrupts the flow. Linking phrases such as “That’s why” and “In conclusion” are used, but connections between ideas are often repetitive or unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one view, then explain and support it in a logical sequence, using clearer references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “difficult situations,” “shortage of money,” “circumstances,” and “achieve.” This is enough to communicate the general argument, but the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “try,” “improve,” and “situation.” Some word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate, such as “dissatisfied job,” “get rid from,” “put all forces on work,” and “luxury life style.” These can make parts of the argument less natural or briefly unclear. Build a wider set of precise phrases for discussing employment, financial hardship and personal choices, and check that verbs and nouns combine naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few longer structures, including “If they want to get rid from these hard situations, they must try…” and the contrast in your conclusion. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include the comma splice in the opening sentence, “If you stuck” instead of a correctly formed conditional, and “They have the life meaningless,” where the word order and article pattern are faulty. In “then I got,” the past-tense account is incomplete, and “Those individuals who accept a bad situation” is not a complete sentence. Practise accurate conditional forms, complete sentence construction, and punctuation between independent clauses before attempting more complex patterns.
