Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many individuals have a belief that it is better to embrace a wrong situation, for instance unreliable work or shortage of money. But other people may think that they must try to transform the situation into a good one. In this essay, I will discuss both behaviours and, give my opinion.

Examining the first point of view, it can be stated that nowadays, the illustrate people can be seen as facing and accepting the bad behaviour of other people or even a bad condition. For instance, many people of our society are less educated or immature to react to situation. They do not know how to react to anyone or anything. As a result they start normalizing the wrong things or wrong behaviours. Whether, they are at a job and, the consequences are not suitable for them.

Observing the second perspective, other people may consider struggling than giving up. Most of our young minds especially, have a standpoint that they must give it a chance and never give up. They ought to do hardwork to change their critical periods of life. For example, in several western countries educated men, women, adults, and even aged persons, whom are well awared, articulate, and self concious, have become the celeberities of their society. Because they know to take the chance, and avail the opportunities that life provides them with. These people have courage to do it for themselves and alter the situations.

To sum the topic, I personally have a viewpoint, that we must try to work hard for a healthier lifestyle, and change the conditions for us, and our generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state a clear preference in the conclusion: “we must try to work hard” and change our circumstances. However, the discussion only partly answers the specific examples in the prompt. The first body paragraph shifts towards accepting other people’s bad behaviour and being “less educated or immature,” rather than explaining why someone might accept an unsatisfactory job or financial hardship. The second view is more relevant, but its example about people becoming celebrities is not clearly connected to improving work or money situations. Develop each side with direct reasons and realistic examples, then explain more fully why your preferred approach is better.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Phrases such as “Examining the first point of view” and “Observing the second perspective” help signal the progression. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and the reasoning within paragraphs does not always flow smoothly. For example, “Whether, they are at a job…” does not clearly connect to the preceding explanation, while the celebrity example moves abruptly from education and awareness to taking opportunities. Make the relationship between each claim and its example explicit, and use clearer referencing so readers can follow what “these people” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal expressions, including “transform the situation,” “critical periods of life,” and “avail the opportunities.” However, vocabulary is not always accurate or natural, and some errors make ideas harder to understand. Examples include “the illustrate people,” “well awared,” “self concious,” and “celebrities of their society.” Phrases such as “wrong situation” and “good one” are also broad where more precise wording would help. Build accuracy with common collocations for employment and finances, such as “unsatisfactory working conditions,” “financial hardship,” and “improve one’s circumstances.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and prefer precise, natural expressions over formal-sounding phrases used inaccurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “For instance” and “Because,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentence patterns are faulty or incomplete: “Whether, they are at a job and, the consequences are not suitable for them” does not form a clear complete sentence, and “Because they know to take the chance” is a fragment. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “other people may consider struggling than giving up” and “whom are well awared.” Commas are often placed incorrectly, particularly around conjunctions and introductory phrases. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and review clause joining and punctuation.
