Student answer (Band 6.0)

A number of people believe that accepting a bad situation is a best thing like shortage of money or an unsatisfactory job while others believe that try to improving such circumstances is more important that accepting it. Although accepting a bad situation will help to cope-up with the situation, I firmly believe that remembering the lessons from such situation and try to improve it is more important for avoiding these in the future.

On the one hand, bad situation creates a pressure on mind and it makes people restless. As they don't know how to manage such situations sometimes they take wrong steps like self injury. For instances one of my friend was dealing with an unplesant experience in the job and in invloves the workers who were competiting with for a project. Eventually they were using different offensive tactics so that she would leave the job. She didn't know how to accept the situation and got in a fight with them and after which was used against her. So the result was she got demotion and led her to take suicide attempt. Therefore, if she could accept the situation the situation and didn't pay attention to them the time would pass, also it would not took a toll on her life.

On the other hand, bad circumstances always comes with a lesson. That's why if people can remember these lessons they can avoid such situations in the future. In addition they can know how to deal with it and try to do better for improving it. For example if someone is facing shortage of money they can plan for the future how to use money in a proper way. They can make a budget planner and also put a separate section for savings that can help them in the future for avoiding money related issues. Thus, trying to improve bad situation always give benefits.

To conclude, while accepting a bad situation will help to manage the situation i would agree that try to improve such circumstances will fix the problem and can be avoided in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both perspectives and state a clear preference for learning from difficult circumstances and trying to improve them. The discussion of acceptance is supported by a specific workplace example, while the money-management example explains how people might prevent future financial problems. These relevant examples help make your position clear. However, the first example is lengthy and its point is not always clear: the story describes harmful consequences of reacting badly, but the link to accepting the situation could be explained more carefully. The opposing view is also less fully developed than your argument for improvement. To strengthen the response, explain more directly when acceptance can be useful, then develop both sides with balanced reasoning and a precise conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples generally sit with the relevant argument. Some connections are less clear or repetitive, however. In the first body paragraph, the sequence from the colleague’s conflict to the demotion and suicide attempt is difficult to follow, and “the situation” is repeated in the final sentence. The conclusion also repeats the main position without clearly summarising the contrast. Use clearer references and transitions within the example, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before adding supporting detail.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “shortage of money,” “offensive tactics,” “demotion,” “budget planner,” and “savings.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts to use more specific language than basic terms alone. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “a best thing,” “cope-up,” “unplesant,” and “competing with for a project” are examples. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “bad situation” and “situation.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and common word partnerships, and use precise alternatives such as “difficult circumstances,” “financial hardship,” or “manage a budget” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction (“Although accepting a bad situation…”) and conditional reasoning in the examples. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For instance, “others believe that try to improving” needs a correctly formed clause, while “bad circumstances always comes” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Eventually they were using…” also has unclear structure, and “it would not took a toll” uses the wrong verb form. Practise forming clauses after verbs such as “believe,” maintaining agreement, and checking tense and verb patterns. More accurate control of these structures would make your complex ideas easier to follow.
