Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both positions and make your own view clear in the conclusion: you argue that people should take action rather than accept difficult circumstances. The example of the rapper King also gives some support to the view that persistence can improve a person’s situation. However, the discussion is uneven and the first view is not explored in a balanced way. You mainly describe negative emotional consequences of accepting a bad situation, without explaining why someone might reasonably accept it—for example, when change is outside their control or acceptance protects their wellbeing. The second view is also supported by a single example rather than broader explanation. Develop the reasons behind both perspectives and connect examples more directly to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument, and transitions such as “However” and “To conclude” signal changes in focus. Nevertheless, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear. In the paragraph about accepting a situation, several consequences are listed in sequence, while links between them are not always explicit. The long description of King also repeats the idea of working hard without clearly separating the example’s details from its relevance. Some linking phrases, including “Further in this essay,” feel formulaic. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each supporting point develops the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including terms such as “frustrated,” “depressed,” “achieve his goal,” and “improve their situation.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts of the response less natural or occasionally difficult to interpret. Examples include “break them in to paces,” “paten,” “finest rapper,” and “prospective.” Repeated use of “situation,” “improve,” and “hard” also limits precision. Aim to choose expressions that fit the intended meaning and vary repeated words—for instance, describe people as “overcome by setbacks” or “work persistently.” Proofreading spelling and checking common word partnerships would make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including sentences joined with “because,” “and,” and “but.” This allows you to express causes, consequences, and contrast, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “some people believe … and others believes” has an agreement error, while “they start have worries” and “couldn't able to do” show problems with verb patterns. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “become depressed person” and the extended sentence beginning “They even don't think about whether it is day or night.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide long strings of ideas into complete sentences.
