IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few indivisuals believes that accepting a bad situation, such as lack of money or a stressful job is the best solution. Because it can prepare an indivusual for the rainy days ahead. While on the other hand some argues that it is more convinient to try improving such situatuations as it would lead to a better life .In my opinion i completely agree that it is better to try and improve the situations as every problem has a solution.
Indivisuals believe that accepting a bad situation is the only possible solution to the problem. Rather than giving or expecting fake hopes can lead to more ubicutous issue. People believe that doing a unsatisfactory job is far better than unemployment due to the massive decline in the job market. This is the only reason people believing that the best solution is accepting.
While on the other hand some of the people believe that it is far better approach to try to improve rather than accepting, and this essay completely agrees with this statement as well. It is very necessary for the people to try and improve current situaton, an unsatisfied job can lead to mental problems such as depression, which can be fatal for the person, trying with a proper road map can lead to more opportunities and self satisfaction.
to sum up, accepting the worst situations such as job dissatisfaction or credit issues is not a positive development. Instead the community should try to improve and bridge the gap to the problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and state a clear preference for improving difficult circumstances, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The point that people may keep an unsatisfactory job because of a declining job market is relevant, but the reasons for accepting a bad situation are not fully explained; the claim that it prepares someone for “rainy days” is introduced but not developed. The case for change is also brief, relying mainly on possible depression and better opportunities. The response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each view with a clearer explanation or example, and ensure the response meets the required length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some links are awkward or repetitive. For example, “While on the other hand” is redundant, and the second body paragraph repeats that improving is better without adding much development. The sentence beginning “Rather than giving or expecting fake hopes” is difficult to connect to the point about accepting a job. Use clearer topic sentences and link each reason directly to the view it supports. More precise referencing and a smoother transition between ideas would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “unsatisfactory job,” “unemployment,” “mental problems,” and “opportunities.” These choices make the main subject clear, and there is an attempt to express ideas beyond very basic language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices are noticeable, including “indivisuals,” “convinient,” “situatuations,” and “ubicutous.” Phrases such as “fake hopes” and “bridge the gap to the problems” are also unclear or imprecise in context. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations for employment and financial hardship. A more precise vocabulary would help communicate the intended reasons without making the reader interpret the phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a clause explaining that an unsatisfactory job can lead to depression. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty. “Few individuals believes” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Because it can prepare an individual…” is a sentence fragment. The opening also joins ideas awkwardly with “While on the other hand,” and the final body paragraph contains a long sentence with unclear clause connections. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in the lowercase “i” and the missing space after a full stop. Practise forming complete sentences and checking agreement, articles, and punctuation, especially when combining reasons and examples.
