Student answer (Band 4.5)

some believe that it is better to accept a bad

situation such as unsatisfactory job or shortage of money while others that it is best to improve such situations, in my option it is

a good idea to improve such situations in other to survive and live a healthy life.

salaries from mania jobs that one does for a living to sustain their family may or it won't be enough to provide all the necessities the family members needs to maintain good healthy or recieve good education as in the

case of the children in the home.Trying to secure other jobs to elevate the economy standard of the family is a wise choice instead of being contended with the employment the pays less.

Futhermore, securing good employment or

trying out other alternatives to improve the

situations will eliminate whatever that will bring financial frustration also reduces pressure on ones mental health because while brainstorming on how to manage and budget ones money to be able to cover ones expenses requires alot of brain work mostly when the money at hand will not be enough to purchase all that is required.

To sum up, rather than accepting the bad circumstances it is better to work it out and

gain satisfaction also live a life that is worth living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You give a clear opinion that difficult circumstances should be improved, and your examples about low salaries, family needs, education and financial pressure are relevant. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, while the response mainly explains why people should try to improve their situation; the reasons for accepting a bad situation are not developed. The supporting points are also brief or unclear, such as the claim that finding better work will reduce mental pressure. The conclusion repeats your position rather than adding support. The response is 217 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. To address the task more fully, explain why some people accept circumstances—for example, limited opportunities or the risks of changing jobs—and develop both sides with clearer examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening states your view, two body paragraphs give reasons for improving circumstances, and a final paragraph summarises your position. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is no developed paragraph for the opposing view, so the progression does not fully match the discussion task. Connections between ideas are sometimes unclear, particularly in the long sentence beginning “Furthermore, securing good employment,” where several effects are joined without a clear sequence. Linking phrases such as “Futhermore” and “To sum up” help signal movement, but the ideas within paragraphs need clearer ordering and referencing. Use one paragraph for each view, then a separate conclusion, and make each sentence explain one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “necessities,” “financial frustration,” “mental health,” “budget” and “expenses,” which helps communicate the general subject. Your range is nevertheless limited, and several inaccurate or awkward choices make parts difficult to understand. For example, “salaries from mania jobs” does not clearly express the intended meaning, while “elevate the economy standard” and “being contended with the employment” are unnatural combinations. Spelling errors such as “Futhermore,” “recieve” and “alot” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, familiar collocations rather than complicated phrases: for instance, describe a “low-paying job,” “improve the family’s financial situation,” or “be content with a job.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can generally identify your main position. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to follow. In the opening, “while others that it is best” is missing a verb, and “in my option it is a good idea” needs clearer sentence punctuation. In “the family members needs,” the subject and verb do not agree; the sentence beginning “Trying to secure other jobs” also has an unclear structure. Apostrophes and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “ones mental health” and the run-on sentence about brainstorming and budgeting. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check articles, agreement and punctuation.
