Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that many people around the world accept all dissatisfactory things such as job or less amount of money. However, others think that we should try hard to improve it. I strongly agree this view that working had is an instrumental thing because it can lead to achieve your golas and bring one step closer to make things in a better way.

To start with one veiw, luck is basically an undeniable fact, so the largre audience accept that bad situation based on luck. As a result, people did not put effeorts to try things become in thier favour. A significant number of individuals are working in other fields, due to not getting a job in their own departments. Additionally, numerous people work in less salaries, where they simply did not afford luxuries. Inspite tackle these problems, they are extremely careless and accepting all this because they did not want to come out in these situations.

In contrast, many people argued that accepting bad situatuions is making people's lives worsen in the long run. They think that improving these situations will benefited them in the future. People who are determined and persistent about their goals are growing enormously, and it also help them to build their career in an effective way.

However, I strongly agree that trying hard to improve bad situation helps them to construct their careers in a great way. Although, somtimes it is quite chellenging and stressfull, offers substantial range of advantages in the long run.

In conclusion, nevertheless luck is a great factor and many people accept most of bad situations due to think that this is all about bad luck. However, it a prevalent thinking of some people and I also agree that working hard can offers great opportunities in the future and allow them to improve situation precisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both perspectives and state your own view clearly: you explain that some people accept difficult circumstances, while you support trying to improve them. The examples of working outside one’s field and earning too little to afford luxuries are relevant. However, the discussion remains general and the first view is not fully explained: the claim that people accept hardship because of “luck” is asserted rather than explored, and the reasons for accepting a situation could be clearer. Your support for improvement also relies mainly on broad claims about career growth and future advantages. Develop each view with a specific explanation or example, and make the comparison between the two positions more balanced and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To start with,” “In contrast,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from luck to employment and salary without explaining how these points connect. The opinion paragraph also repeats the claim that hard work improves careers rather than adding a distinct supporting point. Some linking phrases, including “However” at the start of the opinion paragraph, do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the view it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “persistent,” “determined,” “substantial range of advantages,” and “in the long run.” These choices show an effort to discuss work and personal progress beyond very basic terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word combinations are frequent enough to make the writing less fluent, as in “dissatisfactory,” “less salaries,” “working had,” and “construct their careers in a great way.” Some expressions are also vague or unnatural, such as “the largre audience” and “improve situation precisely.” Build accuracy by learning common collocations for employment and financial hardship, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise, natural phrases over ambitious wording that does not fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, including a sentence beginning “Although, sometimes it is quite challenging…” and clauses introduced by “because” and “where.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “this view that working had is an instrumental thing” lacks a grammatical link, while “it also help them” has incorrect subject–verb agreement and “will benefited them” uses the wrong verb form. The sentence beginning “Although” is also incomplete because it has no main clause. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check verb agreement and tense before adding subordinate clauses.
