Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people argue that it is better to come in terms with a harsh environmnet and make a best use of it while others are of the opinion that a man keeps struggling to improve the overall scenario. This essay tends to analyse both the views alongwith my personal opinion at the end.

It is irrefutable that bad situations can happen in anyone's life and he must accept the situation rather blaming himself or the other factors involved. Some times problem comes from the side least expected and we are left with nothing than accept it and move on. This helps an individual to remain contented with all the happenings either good or worst. Along with that, it also strengthens one's belief in the fate and the God.

Although it is pragmatic to build acceptance of the situation but it is not enough to live a peaceful life. Life is all about struggle and hardships and the lessons we learn from those situations. However, it is necessary to keep trying and make best use of the availbale resources to take ourselves to a better and good position. This gives mental peace to an individual along with a sense of purpose which is required of a man to strive for the best in this world. Most reknowned personalities we know today had themselves emerged from relatively harsh backgrounds and made thier way towards never ending success.

In my opinion, while bad situations are inevitable and a person should not find an escape from them; however, it is absoultely important to keep struggling and giving your best while making the best use of everything in control. World remembers and rewards those who keep moving forward despite all the challenges that had come their way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and gives a clear personal position: acceptance can help people remain content, but continued effort is ultimately important. The discussion of acceptance is relevant, particularly the point that unexpected problems may leave people with little choice but to move on. The argument for improvement is somewhat more developed, with references to using available resources and learning from hardship. However, several claims remain general—for example, that struggle brings “mental peace” and that the world rewards those who keep moving forward—without a specific explanation or example. To strengthen the response, develop each view more evenly and explain how acceptance and practical action can work together in situations such as an unsatisfactory job or financial difficulty.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The progression from acceptance to active improvement is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Although” and “In my opinion” help signal the argument. The organisation is effective, though some connections feel formulaic or unclear. For instance, “Along with that” introduces the point about fate and God without showing how it follows from being content, while “However” in the second body paragraph marks a contrast that could be explained more precisely. The conclusion also repeats the central position rather than drawing together the two arguments. Use clearer links between claims and their explanations, and vary transitions so they express the exact relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The response uses an adequate range for discussing hardship and personal effort, including phrases such as “harsh backgrounds,” “sense of purpose,” and “available resources.” It also attempts more formal vocabulary, but some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “come in terms with,” “a man keeps struggling,” and “make best use of the available resources.” Spelling errors—including “environmnet,” “availbale,” “thier,” and “absoultely”—also reduce precision, although the intended meaning remains clear. Aim for natural, accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language for the task’s examples, such as financial hardship or job dissatisfaction, would also make the discussion less general.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive structure in “Although it is pragmatic to build acceptance … it is not enough” and a relative clause in “those who keep moving forward.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “rather blaming himself” needs a parallel construction such as “rather than blame himself,” and “left with nothing than accept it” is missing the appropriate structure (“nothing but to accept it”). The final sentence uses a semicolon before “however” where a full stop or a different punctuation pattern would be clearer. Review clause structure, parallel forms, and punctuation around linking adverbs; improving these would make the complex sentences more controlled.
