Student answer (Band 5.5)

Life does not work in a parallel way. Happiness and difficulties are the parts of our lives. Many of us believe that adjustment with the problems is the best way to survive. Others think that more practice and trying to overcome the situations are good way. This essay will discuss these views.

Unsatisfactory job, scarcity of money or physical and mental weekness are the daily lilfe occurance. When people accept these, it would be easy for them to survive. Also, acceptance a bad situation makes the people to be positive. Sometimes it assists to keep more patient.

On the other hand, some people believe that trying to overcome the problems is the better way to lead a successful life. There is a proverb that, practice makes a man perfect. Trying more always help us to gain the knowledge of our surroundings as well as makes us determined to achieve our goals. When we try to overcome our problems by thinking solutions it makes us to be creative and innovative. Thinking repeatedly helps us to become more versatilfe. From a few years ago, I faced a problem in my professional work but I was continuously trying to overcome the situations. I failed repeadtedly but not became hopeless. Oneday, I was able to overcome the crisis that help me to think in details and raise creativity in my mind.

From my point of view, trying to solve the difficulties is the most important thing to survive. It does not bring success immediately, but allows people to become more practicing, determined and creative.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state a clear preference for trying to solve difficulties, especially in the final paragraph. The examples of accepting hardship as a way to remain positive and patient, and of persistence helping you overcome a work problem, are relevant to the question. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for acceptance is brief and general, while the benefits of trying to improve a situation receive more explanation. The personal example is also difficult to follow because the problem and the steps taken are not specified. To develop the response further, explain when acceptance may be sensible—for example, when circumstances cannot be changed—and support both sides with clearer reasoning and more precise examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “From my point of view” help signal the direction of the argument, and the conclusion returns to your position. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with several ideas joined by repeated “also,” “and,” or “when” patterns. The shift from general claims to the personal work example is abrupt, and “that help me” does not clearly refer back to the event. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make references explicit. A more developed paragraph structure would help the reader follow how each point supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “overcome,” “determined,” “creative,” and “innovative,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “scarcity of money.” These choices make your main ideas understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “adjustment with the problems,” “more practice” for dealing with difficulties, and “thinking solutions.” Spelling errors such as “weekness,” “lilfe,” “versatilfe,” and “repeadtedly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “adapt to difficulties,” “make an effort to improve,” and “think of solutions.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish accepting circumstances from actively changing them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “When people accept these, it would be easy for them to survive.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, and the response includes a range of sentence openings. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “Others think that more practice and trying … are good way” has a faulty noun phrase and agreement, while “Trying more always help us” has subject–verb disagreement. In “I failed repeatedly but not became hopeless,” the verb construction is incorrect, and “that help me” does not match the past-tense context. Review agreement, articles, and verb forms, and check that complex sentences remain grammatically complete.
