Student answer (Band 6.0)

Over recent years, accepting a bad situation or improving the situation has become a hotly debated issue in society. Few individuals think that accepting the bad situation is the best way to live life because of its positive impact on your mental health, while others argue that to make the situation better you have to improve the situation is more beneficial due to its effect on own lifestyle. In this essay, I will discuss examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion on this matter.

On the one hand, many individuals argue that accepting bad situation is the better option. One of the main reasons for this is that few people have fear of losing their current job and it will be difficult for them to find other job and pay their monthly costs, for example someone who has a job in has village will be scared to find a job in the city because if he loses has current job he will be unemployed and poor.

On the other hand, others believe that improving the situation is more suitable approach one significant reasons for this belief is low paying job can not afford the costs of the daily life and causes a stressful life. For example, a person who has a low salary job can not live a satisfactory life and if he has family can not provide a comfortable life to them and can not cover the cost of children education and he will be very stressful so he should improve his situation to get better job and to get better standard of life.

In my opinion, while both arguments have merit, I believe that improving the situation is the more convincing viewpoint. This is mainly because improving situation is the only way to get out from difficulties to can cover a better lifestyle for your family and for your own self to can provide such ad a good food and better education.

In conclusion, although few individuals argue that being patient in a bad situation offers important benefits, others believe that trying to make the situation better is a more effective option. After considering both perspectives , I believe that improving the situation is ultimately the better approach because of its positive impact on individuals and society as a whole.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: you explain why someone may stay in an insecure job and argue that improving one’s circumstances can provide a better life for a family. The examples about finding work in the city and paying for children’s education are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first view is mainly explained through fear of unemployment, while the second has more detail about low pay and family needs. Some reasoning is also unclear, particularly the claim that accepting a bad situation benefits mental health, which is introduced but not explained in the body. Develop each view with a fuller explanation and make the link between your reasons and your position more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and your position is consistent. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and some references are unclear: “the situation” is repeated frequently, while “it” in the first body paragraph could refer to either the job or the situation. The introduction also says “discuss examine,” which interrupts the flow. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “monthly costs,” “low paying job,” “satisfactory life,” and “standard of life.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “both arguments have merit” and “more convincing viewpoint.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording, especially “improve the situation,” “better,” and “life.” Several collocations or word choices are inaccurate or awkward, including “effect on own lifestyle,” “has village,” and “very stressful” when describing a person. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, though the overall meaning remains understandable. Build a wider set of precise expressions for employment, financial security, and quality of life, and check that words combine naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “while,” and “if,” and the overall meaning can generally be followed. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “to make the situation better you have to improve the situation is more beneficial” combines structures incorrectly, and “he should improve his situation to get better job” is missing an article. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “one significant reasons,” and the final opinion sentence contains the faulty pattern “to can cover.” Punctuation is also uneven, with spaces before commas and some long sentences that need clearer boundaries. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofread articles, agreement, and clause structure.
