Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You present a relevant opinion that people should face their circumstances and try to improve them, and you mention both accepting hardship and making an effort. However, the two views are not clearly discussed or supported: the point that people may “acknowledge a detrimental dilemma” is difficult to interpret, while the examples about technology and young people do not explain why someone might accept a bad job or low income. Your position also shifts between accepting circumstances and improving them, so the reader cannot tell how you reconcile these ideas. The response is 235 words, below the required 250; this limits the space available to develop the discussion. Explain each view directly, give a relevant example, and state a consistent conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an opening, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “In addition” and “To conclude” show an effort to connect points. However, ideas are not arranged in a clear progression: the first body paragraph moves from skills and salary problems to technology, without showing how these points relate to the two views in the question. The second paragraph repeats the idea of working hard but does not develop it, and the conclusion introduces several loosely connected claims. Some links are also unclear, for example “Some people also solve their problems and from learn to their error.” Use one paragraph for each view, connect each example to its main point, and make references and transitions precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “financial problem,” “responsibility,” “detrimental dilemma” and “circumstances,” and the general subject is usually recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “impoverished people can also utilize technology develop mastery” does not clearly express the point, and “favourable cost” is not an appropriate phrase for earning income. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “knownlege” and “Moverover.” Build a more reliable set of phrases for employment, income and overcoming hardship, and check that each word fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, including “people can their arduous situation overcome, if they more hard work,” and use a conditional idea, but sentence patterns are very limited and errors are frequent. Missing or misplaced verbs make several sentences difficult to understand: “people should that face their circumstances” and “Most persons are frequently do not spend extra time” are examples. There are also problems with articles, plurals, agreement and punctuation, as in “an unsatisfactory job” being omitted in the opening and “financial problem with family responsibility.” Commas and spaces are often missing around sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add clauses with “because,” “although” and “if,” checking that every clause has a subject and a correctly formed verb.
