Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s subject and report several key figures accurately, including petroleum earnings of 61 and 63 billion dollars and the percentage changes for engineered goods, gems and textiles. You also recognise that gems and jewellery declined while the other categories rose. However, the overview is unclear and includes unsupported claims such as “all the products gain a huge profit”; the chart shows export values, not profit, and gems fell. Some comparisons are vague: agricultural products and textiles are said to be “almost…same,” although textiles rose notably from about 26 to 31.5 billion dollars. To make the summary more complete, state the main overall pattern clearly and compare the highest and lowest values and the most notable change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction and overview are followed by discussion of the chart and then the table. This gives the reader some organisation, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “But,” and “Later on” show attempts to connect points. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear, and some links are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “Later on” does not clearly indicate a time sequence in the overview, while “In next agricultural products and Textiles” makes the relationship between the categories difficult to follow. The overview also mixes general claims with specific rankings. Grouping the categories by whether they rose or fell, and using clearer comparisons between years, would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “increase,” “decrease,” and “rise,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Gain a huge profit” is not appropriate for export values, and “the most popular product” does not describe the highest-valued category. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “fimiliar,” “dollers,” “bilion,” and “Texties.” Aim for precise terms such as “export earnings,” “value,” and “recorded,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “gain” and “rise” when describing different figures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer comparisons, for example, “In 2015 petroleum product can achieve…” and “But a huge rise are shown in engineered goods.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction can make the message difficult to read. Examples include “The given chart show,” “all the products gain,” and “a huge rise are shown”; these need subject–verb agreement and appropriate tense. The comparison beginning “as compare to” is also not grammatically formed. Practise writing clear past-tense sentences about the two years, and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb before adding linking clauses.
