Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart and table and give a brief overview, correctly noting that textiles had the largest rise and that gems and jewellery declined. However, the overview is inaccurate when it says all categories increased: gems fell, while agricultural exports were almost unchanged. Several key comparisons are missing, and the figures are vague or incomplete; for example, you do not report the percentage changes for most categories or clearly compare the highest-earning categories. The statement that petroleum rose above $60 billion is broadly accurate, but the year is repeated instead of identifying 2016. The response also falls short of the required 150 words, limiting the detail available. Develop a fuller overview and support it with accurate figures for the main changes and rankings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by an overview and then details, and sequencing phrases such as “Other side,” “Next,” and “In the last” signal movement between categories. However, progression is not consistently clear, and the response reads more like a list than a connected comparison. Some links are inaccurate or awkward, while “Overall” is followed by a claim that conflicts with the later statement about gems declining. The final sentence repeats the textile increase already mentioned. Use clear paragraphs and organise the details around meaningful comparisons—for example, the highest earners, the decline or stability, and the largest percentage rise—while checking that the overview agrees with the details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage,” “decrease,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “huge grow,” “maximum rise up,” and “huge difference.” Spelling errors—including “illusyrates,” “catgories,” “engineered,” and “Agricultureal”—are frequent enough to distract the reader. Some category names are also inconsistent, such as “engineered goods” and “Agricultureal products.” Build a more precise set of chart-reporting expressions, such as “rose to,” “declined by,” “remained stable,” and “recorded the largest increase,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to form both simple statements and comparisons, but sentence structures are mostly basic and errors occur frequently. Examples include “The all categoris increased,” “as compare to 2015,” and “in 2015 increased and reached,” where articles, comparison forms, and sentence construction are not controlled. Tense and time references are also unclear: “in 2015 increased” appears to describe a change in 2016, and the year is repeated in the petroleum sentence. Punctuation is inconsistent, including the full stop after “Overall” and the stray “p” at the end. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence for agreement, articles, and clear year references.
