Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern that petroleum and engineered goods earned the most, and correctly note that gems and jewellery was the only category to decline. You also include relevant figures and percentage changes for all five categories. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: agricultural exports were about $31 billion in 2015 and $31.5 billion in 2016, not “around 41%” and “41.5%”; gems reached about $41 billion, not “41%”; and the chart reports earnings in billions of dollars, not percentages. The overview’s claim that agriculture and textiles had “almost halved proportion” is also imprecise. The response covers the task, but these misread units and less-developed comparisons limit the accuracy and clarity of the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the categories. The progression from the highest earners to the remaining exports is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Overall” and “The only export” help signal relationships. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some effective organisation beyond that. To make the progression more consistently smooth, group categories by comparable trends or values and use clearer links between them. For example, the shift from gems to agriculture and then textiles is understandable, but the paragraphs read somewhat like separate item-by-item notes. Some references, such as “these products,” could also be made more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “revenue generation,” “declined,” “slight increase,” and “significant increase.” These choices generally communicate the trends, and the reader can understand the intended comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “the earning of one country's export,” “almost halved proportion,” and “producing around 41% of earnings” do not express the chart data naturally. Repeated use of “value” and “increase” also limits flexibility. Aim for precise terms such as “export earnings,” “accounted for,” and “rose to,” while ensuring that the wording matches the units shown. This would make the report more natural and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the opening contrast with “While” and clauses describing changes over time. Meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “While table gives information” needs an article, and “the earnings become 3% higher” has an inconsistent tense; “the earnings were just above 55 billion” would be clearer with a complete comparison structure. There are also agreement and sentence-construction problems in “Gems and jewellery was” and “its value become around 41.5%.” Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and past-tense forms when describing completed years. More consistently accurate sentences would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
