Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart’s subject and report several relevant figures, including the highest percentage rise for textiles and the smallest rise for agricultural products. However, the response only partially summarises the visual: the overview repeats that the chart shows earnings and percentage changes rather than highlighting the main trends. The 2015 figures are mostly approximate and reasonable, but the 2016 values are omitted, so key comparisons are missing. You also describe the petroleum figure as a “ratio” and say it “decrease[s]” to engineered goods, which can suggest a change over time rather than a comparison between categories. Include the 2016 values and note that most categories rose, while gems and jewellery fell.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on 2015 figures, and one on percentage changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and the categories are generally presented in a recognisable sequence. However, progression is limited because the overview largely repeats the introduction, and the main body does not compare both years. Linking is also sometimes awkward or mechanical: “then,” “after that,” and “in addition” do not always show the relationship between the figures clearly. Use a focused overview, group the main comparisons, and connect each category’s 2015 and 2016 values directly. Clearer sentence boundaries and spacing would also make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, such as “percentage change,” “exports,” and the category names, so the topic is usually understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “the mid ratio of earning,” “Agricultural things,” and “total earning that gained.” “Ratio” is not suitable for describing export values, and “items” is less precise than “products” in this context. There are also spelling errors, notably “Petroeum,” and inconsistent forms such as “earning” where “earnings” or “export value” is needed. Build a more precise range around describing values and trends, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “The graph under illustrate” has subject–verb agreement and article problems, while “Petroeum items earn 60 billions dollars then the ratio decrease” contains tense, plural, and sentence-boundary errors. The sentence beginning “the mid ratio of earning” also lacks clear punctuation and structure. Use past tense consistently for the 2015–2016 data, check singular and plural forms such as “billion dollars,” and separate complete ideas with full stops. Short, accurate comparison sentences would help establish control before you attempt longer structures.
